So the moral of the story is if you put 12V power on something that's was intended to only have 5V applied, you're gonna have a bad time.

I hate to ask, but was the lamp not labelled with input voltage? Was the charger not labelled with output voltage? Because just about everything that's designed to accept or supply "low voltage" normally is.

I don't think it was the charger... most chargers these days stop when fully charged, and do not "trickle charge". Mine certainly doesn't anyway.... How else are you going to fully charge slow-charging batteries like 18650's if not overnight while sleeping? I can't during day cause I'm working.... and therefore, need my vape batteries to be charged.

Doggo is really old, so I don't correct him on little things like pulling out paper plates. I don't think it would help any either, he's gonna do it when the snoring starts.

Dogs very much have a mind (mischievous though it may be) of their own ;)

Thank you for posting this :thumb: I've had 2 weeks of not being home very much, and my battery charging got put on the back burner. I did it when I had the time, but I was so tempted to just leave the charger going overnight. I'm glad I didn't do that now :thumb:

Firstly I'm really glad you were not injured or worse.
No battery should ever be charged unattended, wether it's in a phone, a mod or in this case a poorly made Chinese lamp. A battery fire at night, well the consequences could be terminal.

The quality and safety of a lot of the cheap consumer electronics that come out of China is highly suspect. There is a guy on Youtube who's channel is pretty much dedicated to testing and breaking down dodgy Chinese electronics, some of which are potentially lethal. Search youtube for user bigclivedotcom.
