oopsie with a mechie and thankfully all is good

I've been using mechs almost exclusively for about 3 years now, and I've had no issues. I've even made a few of my own, and never had a problem.
Today, I got in a MiniStick Black - Mini ECIG clone, and it's great, but I put it down beside me, watched some Game of Thrones to get ready for Sunday, and...
I have no idea how long for, but the button got pressed down by my hip. When I went to pick it up for a vape that thing almost burned my hand. My best guess is 5-10 minutes.
I quickly unscrewed the button and took out the battery which was remarkably cool to the touch. I know to always build to the continuous rating instead of the pulse rating, but I didn't expect it to be so... no biggie. That battery was like yea, I got this. It was mostly full when i put it down, and about half drained after, so I'm sure it would have been a different story if it had gone longer. Still, I'm super impressed.
Another thing that absolutely blew my mind, once I calmed down and was able to think again: the wick didn't get dry and burn. I had a serpent rdta in there, and sure thing it was almost out of juice, but managed to keep up the wicking for the 5-10 minutes that it was fired. That's damn impressive to me.
Btw, the batteries are on clearance for $1 at imr. 18500 vappower. This isn't a scientific Mooch style test, but I gotta give props where they're due. It didn't even get warm at around 9a for however long that was.
PS, swapped out that monster switch for a 20x1 smpl button so it's recessed now.

I was shaken for sure. That mod is thick aluminium and was too hot to handle much for a good half hour. The atty was super hot too but cooled down faster.
That mighty little battery was cool as a cucumber by comparison.

Yeah, I've give through the same thing with my Nemesis mech...three times! I keep forgetting to lock the button, and even managed to melt a Delrin drip tip onto a mod. Good times.

Time out is the key feature on a regulated mod. You'd think that there would be a well designed dime sized timer to use with mech mods. It wouldn't affect the vape if it was set for 10 or 15 seconds. Resettable fuses used to be popular, but they are hard to find these days.
