opening control head

I just shorted out my eVic by doing a silly mistake of tryna stack two 18350s. It wouldnt turn on after that and after two days its still dead. Whenever i plug the usb cord in it gets super hot but remains dead.

I'm guessin I shorted out something inside and was wondering if i could pry open the head to attempt to fix the short.

Does anyone know how to deliberately open the top of the control head. Mine is the v1 control head w/o screws.

Put an empty cartomizer on the 510 threading, and gently bend it from left to right several times : it should go off easily.

You sir are playing with fire, do you think if it gets super hot, it might be a warning that things are about to get very unpleasant.
Please heed the warning and leave well alone, especially if you do not know what you are doing.

It does sound like a short. You can verify this with a multimeter (ohmmeter). Remove the battery tube. Connect the positive lead to the center pin on the bottom of the eVic head. Connect the other lead to the threading on the bottom. You should see something in the "mega Ω" range. If you get something significantly lower, then something has definitely melted and shorted.

But note that even if your reading is correct, it could still be shorted internally (further "into" the circuit), perhaps only manifested when a voltage is applied. The voltage could, for example, turn on a transistor and completing the short. For safety reasons, I wouldn't do this type of "testing" if I were you, unless you are using a fused DC power supply.

A short caused by melting is usually easy to visually identify and often easy to fix. Some assembly and soldering required. YMMV. Be careful with shorts. Since you already confirmed it gets very hot, you should probably heed the warning.

You can do anything you want - It is junk now anyway. Possible you fried a wire but likely you blew the chipset and will need a new head.

I think what i said was good advice , there are many threads on here with the same theme, stacking batteries is not recommended at the best of times, and i cannot see how stacking batteries can be a mistake, surely it was intentional.

Anyway enough, if i ruffled any feathers i apologise.

I understand, i stack batts on my mech mods and zmax with all precautions taken. I was led to believe by a friend the eVic could take a stacked set up as well.

Nevertheless I should have researched more about it before trying. Hence a silly mistake.

My apology for the outburst, its just that there are many people out there these days that just want their own asses covered if you know what i mean.

And where i come from, it's illegal to even possess a PV.

Mines got screws but it still can't be pulled out easily
