Opinions on box mods! :)

Hi all!

I'm coming up to a year vaping at the end of this month and I gotta say it's been incredible! I feel a lot more healthier and my breathing is back to normal! Didn't realise how bad my breathing was during my time as a smoker until I ended up resorting back to cigs for a month a little while ago (I know I know really silly!)

Basically I want to treat myself and get a DNA30! Currently I use a nemesis with kayfun lite plus and it's an awesome vape and usually run it at about 0.8-1 ohm. Recently bought some Sony 30amp battery's and tried lower sub ohm made a 0.6 dual coil and opened up my nemesis clone to dual 2mm holes... Now it tasted good but I dunno lung inhales don't feel right it don't feel like I get enough satisfaction from it the way I get from the mouth inhale as that's what I'm used to from smoking :s or does it get better when you go a bit lower? Just can't really taste the juice that much with a lung inhale, maybe it's just my coil or wicking I'm not sure :s but I'm not getting that tasty dense cloud with it just big clouds but really thin (even with 75% VG) any thoughts?

But basically I wanna get a DNA30 for my kayfun so I can have the awesome vape I get at full battery right the way through while vaping at 21-25 watts, also the added protection, battery checker and ohm reader all on it is helpful too. My only concern is do box mods look utterly ridiculous?! I do like the look of the DNA30 but sometimes I am conscious of vaping in public with my nemmy and kayfun we'll not really public more around the people I know (pub banter about me sucking on a robots arm lol) now I'm thinking if I turn up to the pub while I'm tooting on a box it would just be even more weird! Haha!

Any thoughts on both my questions would be appreciated !! sorry for it being almost an essay haha!

Im not sure I understand. You run a dual coil in a kayfun with 2mm air hole?

The kayfun is not meant to be a cloud machine. At 20 something watts, I think you are pushing it a little (read "way") high. You might want to consider a dripper (if you don't have one already) around 0.4 ohms dual coil.

PS only use a 30 amp battery if you do that.

What I meant was I want to get the awesome dense tasty cloud people talk about with sub ohm but tbh I prefer to mouth inhale and don't find the flavour that tasty with a direct lung inhale which of course I use a Sony 30amp with the 0.6 (even tho a normal AMR 10amp battery will suffice with that)

I have an easy solution for that... Forget about lung inhales and vape the way you like.

I don't get it either. You drilled two air holes on the KFL+?

I'm pleased as punch with my 1.3 ohm single microcoil with organic cotton wick in my KFL+ on either a Provari or Silver Bullet mech. Best flavor I've experienced yet, and that includes dripping on a dual microcoil at 0.5 ohms in a Patriot on my Bullet. Pretty dense vapor, if not the huge clouds that a really low sub-ohm dripper can make.

Like Steam Turbine said, I also suggest either getting a drip RBA and make a dual coil at 0.5 ohm, drilling out the airholes (if not already adjustable), and using a longer drip tip (the Vape Labs Popeye comes to mind) for a cooler vape. Going lower in sub-ohms is going to get you and even hotter vape. Or put a Kick in your mech for a regulated vape, or just use a regulated VV mod to avoid the battery drop off you get in a mechanical mod.

True! But I'm still looking for 'the one' in the vape world haha! Looking for that really thick tasteful cloud doesn't need to be huge clouds just dense! Was thinking lung inhales on an airy nimbus would do the trick :/

Yeah when I first saw reos and then YouTube videos with everyone using dna30's I thought 'pfft why would someone use that?!' But now I'm like... It kind of looks cool... Aha!

Ah sorry mate I wrote it a bit wrong I'm tired I meant I drilled my nimbus out I already have a few RDA in my collection as I started on them before I got my kayfun. Then when I moved to the kayfun I wanted a nemesis as they just work so well together in cosmetics anyway!

I'm tinkering this week with the dual sub ohm coils for an RBA anyway but so far lowest I've done is 0.6 dual micro coil in my nimbus with dual 2mm air hole. Like I said before I'm more of a mouth to lung person than just a direct lung hitter so this seems to be my problem while looking for that dense thick cloud full of flavour! :/

Nothing will get that sensation that you got from smoking.

After about a year from when I started, I just forgot about chasing that smoking alternative and enjoyed vaping. If you want to smoke, you'll never get over that. Same principles of kicking the habit. Try to accept and let it go.

If you are not into lung inhales... I'm afraid to say that maybe thick flavorful RDA clouds is not for you...

Don't let that deter you though. Keep tinkering, keep fiddling... Your vape is out there.

A Reo might be a good fit for you. If you get one of the low profile versions, you can do this...



I had to have a guy modify the Trident to a bottom feeder, but basically you give the bottle a squeeze and you're getting all the powerful vapor and flavor from a quality RDA, without the mess and hassle of dripping. I have mine at .4 ohms with dual microcoils and its just incredible

I have a DNA30 and it's approx the same size of a 100's cigarette pack,it's just right for me since it fits perfectly in my hand. I have it topped with a KFL+ and it's,in my opinion,the perfect vape for me.

Forgot to add...you might want to check out an adjustable airflow rda like the zenith or the helios. Seems to be that these are great for mouth to lung hits since you can tighten down the air flow. I can't do lung hits either and I'm looking at picking one of these up as well for dripping.

Looks nice. Who makes that device? Been wanting to pick up a dna 30 but I wanted to let the dust settle before picking up one of the hana clones. I also don't like the fact that many of the dna devices have internal bats. But yeah I'm eventually going to grab a dna 30 device. I hear vapor shark is going to be releasing an 18650 version sometime soon.

If you prefer tube mods, NexGen is going to have some Futura DNA30s available in about two or three weeks. They will be prebuilt, so no waiting. The Futura can use 18650s, 18500s and 18350s. The Wizard's Apprentice Evolved II DNA30 is available now. 18650 only. A bit pricey, but it's top of the line and worth every penny.

I'm not a fan of box mods myself so when I was doing my research on which APV I wanted to buy, these were my top 2 picks. I absolutely couldn't be happier with them.

There's no reason to vape sub-ohm on a regulated mod. Quite frankly, it's dumb and dangerous.
