I received my opposing magnetic button conversion today and, all in all, I like it...
My 2010 GGTS (which I love) came with a very stiff spring which also had a 'crunchy' feeling at times, probably because there was dust or something in the spring. In any case, I decided to try the magnets to hopefully solve both problems.
I watched the video and started with three magnets, expecting to back off to two. But the three magnets are just enough. I'm wondering if there's room in there for four? The 'crunchiness' of the spring is solved completely, but now my spring is so easy to press I'm almost afraid to set it on my desk without locking it. It's as if there's just enough force to lift the button back up. I realize this is all subjective, but I think most would agree the force is surprisingly weak.
Maybe the switch on the 2010 GGTS is different? The magnets are pretty strong, so I don't think they're the issue. I followed the video exactly. Two buttons in the big hole, then the plunger, then the opposing magnet followed by the button.
If there's room for another magnet in there, I'll order another set and try one more to see. Anybody tried this yet?
