Okay, so on Monday I finally convinced the wife, took the plunge and ordered us each a m401 starter kit, extra atty, a box of 50 carts (30 high and 20 med strength) and a bottle of marlboro juice. Now, I do have a few questions.

Say I got a flavored juice (chocolate, vanilla, etc), could/should I drip with an already prefilled cart? Or should I wait until the cart is empty to drip?

Also, with the prefilled carts, if it runs out and I begin to drip, how long can I keep dripping before I need to insert a new cart? Like how long are carts good for before you need to throw them out?

Thanks everyone, this forum has been great and the reason I am finally making the switch!

I think that you are confusing dripping with topping off your cart.

Dripping means you put a couple of drops directly on the atomizer. You replace your cart without the cartridge that holds the fluid and vape it straight. This can be accomplished with the use of a straightened paper clip pushing the small cart out through the mouthpiece (small hole). With the 401 you could also dip.

Topping off the cart is recommended when the cart starts to dry out. Don't let that happen. You will begin to taste the cart material when this starts to happen or it doesn't produce good vapor/throat hit. That should give you a good indicator.

Don't throw out your carts. Just take the material out and rinse it, let it dry completely, replace and add fluid. If it starts to turn discolored you can replace the material inside.

401 carts are really small and you will find yourself topping it off constantly. Only lasts for a few analogs worth at best.

Hope this helps.

Hello kalojado:

As the previous poster said (you were a bit confused). I so wish all the suppliers would post how to use videos for their new customers to view. There are several suppliers who do, kudos to those! I really think it is easier for new users to view for themselves how it is suggested to be used. Dripping into the atomizers can cause flooding if not done correctly, and possible failure of the battery. I do not know if your supplier reccomends dripping on your choice of vaporizer, you may want to check with them.

It is my opinion that the manual battery vaporizers are designed better for dripping. You will be able to view alot of videos on various subjects about electronic cigarettes on YouTube - Broadcast Yourself. There are some really good ones that show all the steps to alot of different techniques. Just do a search in the box for what you want to see.

Welcome to ECF. I am sure you will be glad you have made the switch to vaporize. Good luck to you.

I actually had a related question, I hope you don't mind me posting it here -- answer might be helpful to you too...

For my first ecig, I ordered a 501 manual starter kit and a bottle of coffee juice. The kit I ordered comes with pre-filled Marlboro carts. When those start to go dry, can I top them off with the coffee juice, or do I need to clean the filling in the carts, or maybe order blank carts (so I'm not mixing the flavors)?

Also, can someone tell me why you would drip onto the atomizer instead of just topping off a cart? Seems everyone does it, but (I guess cause I haven't even gotten my ecig yet) I really don't understand the point...

Thanks

I personally don't drip on the atty........I just top of the cart with drips like you are saying. It will come down to personal preference. I put flavors on top of flavors all the time. I don't rinse my carts or nothing but if you mix something funky it may taste funny until the old flavor is gone. I suggest trying it and see if you like it. I replace my cart only once or twice a week. It just becomes hard to draw through and they cost about .20 to 40. cents

the carts have some filling in them, like pillow stuffing, and you can refill it whenever its low or dry. if it doesnt absorb anymore then its time to get a new cart or restuff it. dripping on the atomizer can be primary vaping or just to wet the wick before vaping. i had no clue about this stuff till i found vids on youtube. and as the poster above me stated you can refill whenever but you may have funky combo flavors.

First question: Yes, you can dump any flavor you want on top of any other flavor. Some taste fine that way, some taste terrible. You may not realize it, but the Tobacco flavors are often quite sweet (They taste like unlit cigarettes, not like burning ones) I suspect they would go pretty well with coffee.

Second question: When you are using an ecig the "normal" way (i.e. not dripping or dipping) You get a moderate amount of vapor per drag, for many drags. The liquid travels up the wick, and a fraction of a drop is vaporized each drag. That's good if what you want to do is puff away for a while and relax. If you drip (or dip, it's the same general idea) You are coating the atomizer with two or three drops of juice, which is effectively vaporized off in one or 2 drags, so you get a couple of nice STRONG drags, and then you have to re-drip.
