Ordered my first E-cig and it's on its way. This seems unreal!

I'm super excited..I've been a smoker for three years and I'm looking to cut down. And the e-cigarette definitely looks like my answer. Is it gonna be okay if I supplement a cigarette with an e-cig ONLY SOMETIMES? I'm really excited for this alternative but I don't want to completely stop smoking. Is that okay?

How real is it compared to the real thing?

I know people who use E-cigs to help them cut back on their smoking, so have at it, when it comes to smoking less is always better. As for how close it is to real thing? I was a pack a day smoker and wanted to check out PVs with a little disposable, I haven't smoked a real cig since my first pull off that thing lol. It's been about 4 weeks now with maybe 2 or 3 rough days where I really wanted an analogue, but I almost can't imagine it anymore now that I can actually smell a smoker when one walks by.

Welcome to the forums, and what type of PV did you order?

Personal Vaporizer, and nice pick for something to start out with. I started with a Safe Cig, which I hated, then moved on to a V2 (KR808 battery/threading) which was nice as I could find accessories everywhere for it much like you can with the 510. Great place to start out, you need to let us know how you like it when you get it, and don't be afraid to post any problems you may have along the way.

PV = personal vaporizer, TH = Throat Hit, Atty = Atomizer, Carto = Cartomizer, KR = KR808D-1 (e cig model), Mod = its a PV that has been modified, Analog = Tobacco Cigarette.

There are probably a few others.

Congrats on buying an e-cig. The proof that these things work is the amount of long term smokers who have tried all of the standard methods of quitting and when they used the e-cig it reduced their cravings and eventually replaced their analogs. Another interesting point is the growing number of health professionals who are recommending e-cigs as a safe alternative to smoking.

I wouldn't worry about it. If cutting down is your goal, when the e-cig gets there just start playing with it. Start to replace some of your regular smokes with the e-cig.

What sort of flavors of juice did you order? A lot of people find that finding the right juice can take a while and it's very subjective. Every has their own personal taste and a juice that works for some people doesn't work for others. I'd recommend going ahead and looking around at forum suppliers and finding those that offer sample packs of flavors. Go ahead and order a few sample packs so that you have a large variety of flavors to test out. Finding something you like will go a long way towards your enjoyment of the e-cig versus real cigs.

I would just jump in and start using it as much as you can. You need to change the way your brain associates nicotine with analogs. The quicker you change the association from analogs to e-cigs the faster the transition.

Have a analog when you desperately need one, but otherwise keep using the e-cig and practice your drags. The way you drag vapor out of an e-cig is different to a cigarette.

I have another question...due to stress (And researching this e-cig, which was best, where to buy it) I have been sitting in my room smoking more than usual....should I start reducing so that I don't have withdrawal when I switch over to e-cigs or what?

Hi girlintheworld, congratulations on ordering an e-cigarette!

Vaping will get you the nicotine you need without having to take in all the other crud cigs have in them. One thing you might want to try (just a suggestion) is, hold onto whatever cigs you have left, but make a conscious effort to "reach for the PV" whenver you have the craving. There will be a couple of benefits to this - one, you'll still get your nicotine. Two, the less you smoke cigs, the more your lungs will improve function and noticing how much better you can breathe now will help serve as a powerful incentive to abandon them altogether. It's almost self-regulating. :) Three, your senses of taste and smell will also improve quite a bit especially once you stop using the analogs altogether.

But, don't beat yourself up if you grab an analog. You'll get past it.

After a while you'll probably find that you don't even want to light up a cig anymore because it's not as "clean" as a vape.

My wife still has cigs in the closet and I don't ding her over the head for keeping them around. But guess what? She hasn't had one since she got her own PV kit.

One important thing though, will be to find flavors of liquids you like. It will ease the transition in that early period that your mind still "wants" to light up a real cigarette. Once you've found some flavors you like it will be pretty easy to abandon the analogs altogether.

Good luck! You're gonna make it!

If you're like me, you'll find you don't even want a cigarette once you start vaping. Like others here, the day I got my PV was the day I smoked my last analog, and it took practically ZERO willpower. I still have a half pack in my car, and haven't even wanted to reach for em. My buddy was over yesterday, and I was puffing away on my PV while helping him with his car. He asked for an analog, since my PV smelled good, (but he didn't wanna share spit with me, I was, and am, sick). He lit up, and he STANK! Not only did I not hunger for a drag off his analog, but I didn't even want to be standing next to him, not for the temptation, but for the stink! It's REALLY incredible.

Of course, if you're not like me, you might still want analogs. Everyone is different. Set goals for yourself, and work towards them. I second the "keep a pack around" sentiment. It was a fantastic affirmation for me to look at the pack and think, "I don't even want one, I just wanna vape!".

What I did was slowly transition from analogs to my pv. I had a full pack of analogs when I received my pv. I would smoke both and when I finally an out of my analogs I never bought another pack. But make sure you have plenty of backups like extra battery, cartos, juices etc in case you run out. I know many people here ran out before they received their new supplies and had to go buy analogs for their nicotine fix!
