Hi all,

I've been vaping for just over 2 months now absolutly love it! But now It's time to upgrade from my ego twists and I've set my heart on my first mod being a vamo as its a cheap and easy way to get into the mod game.

Even though its cheap been thinking of ordering from fast tech to get it even cheaper (why not?! lol) but my only concern is I was going to order the one with the nitecore i2 charger but as it is china was wondering if this is a good idea to use the charger and batterys that come with it? is it going to burn down my house etc haha here is the link $51.96 Vamo-Vivi Stainless Steel Voltage Adjustable E-Cigarette Battery Compartment Set - with Nitecore I2 Euro battery charger/charger cable/2*Panasonic 18650 batteries at FastTech - Worldwide Free Shipping

the kit is roughly 33 pounds or for piece of mind and to get here quicker I could just spend about an extra 20 quid into it and get it all from the UK from good vendors?

Any advice would be great as im worried about the batterys and the charger even though its nitecore and also heard a lot of people say when they order SS vamo from fasttech a lot of the time it turns up and its chrome which would be a fingerprint magnet too... lol

There is an incredibly detailed and extensive discussion of the Nitecore battery question on the Fast Tech thread here in this section. I really cannot summarize it because I'm definitely not into mech mods because of the battery question. But others here are and they've made a study of FT's battery offerings. I suggest you read the last 10 pages or so of the Fast Tech thread!

The Fast Tech forum over at FT also has discussions of battery quality. You'll find them in the "discussions" section of each of the various products. Once more, the whole topic makes me all sleepy-eyed and vacant-staring, so I can't summarize what they say.

I love my Vamo v2. I think it looks better than the v3. I have the cheaper chrome version, but I understand the stainless steel is better as the finish can come off on the chrome versions (but this can be remedied with a wrap). Those batteries look like the ones I have, and if they are Panasonic's, they are a very good cell. Cannot comment on the charger, but I have heard good things about the Nitecore.

My ONLY complaint with my vamo v2 SS is that it is slippery. As in feels like it is sliding out of your hand slippery. I just went to a hardware stor and picked up a few orings to slip over it to give me something to grip.

The nitecore i2 is a great charger. I cannot be sure about the batterys in that kit as I cannot read the numbers on them but they might be the panasonic CH batterys and if they are then they are a good quality battery.

In Any case that is the vamo kit I would choose (with the correct plug for your location of course).

yeah I'll have a look in that section just a lot of detailed stuff there I would imagine just thought I would be able to get a quick answer here :) thanks!

Theinlawjosie did you order the SS kit and did it actually come SS?

Yeah just wanted to get the SS version so I don't have to worry about it wearing away with the chrome version etc as it did with one of my ego batterys :) I know that the nitecore chargers are excellent but just more worried about the chargers setting fire to the house as some from china have lol

Where do you think the vast majority of battery chargers are made?

Obviously china but you hear a lot of storys about these chargers setting on fire it could be the standard chargers that come from fasttech rather than named ones like nitecore but was only wondering peoples personal experiences with them in this kit

I did order the SS version and that is what I got. If you receive a non SS version I'm sure fasttech would correct the mistake. I actually did have some trouble with my order, but not enough to keep me from ordering from them again. I am in the US and selected the US charger - I received a EU charger instead. I opened a ticket with fasttech and they just went ahead and sent the US power cable without making me return the original.

Good news guys, my order of 10 ce4 clearos, 10 EVODS, 100ml eliquid was shipped from fasttech. I ordered this Monday and it was shipped by Wednesday, maybe it could of been shipped sooner but the juice I ordered wasnt in stock till Wednesday. They take a picture of the package for you to see, I think thats very cool. The VAMO says it will ship in one week. Maybe I over looked this when I placed my order but its fine I will wait instead of paying $40 more from another vendor.

The CGRs are IMR-ish meaning they are quite safe. The I2 is a good charger.

Seriously the VV/VW protected mods are what the battery manufacturers deem as a safe use for their batteries (other than the end user has access to the batteries). The mechs are not, those are the ones you need to know your battery stuff with. If you decide to stack batteries in anything you need to learn your stuff first.
You are fairly safe using any single 18650 in a protected VV/VW mod. You are quite safe using a safe chemistry battery in a protected VV/VW mod.
Are you perfectly safe? Never. Not charging or using your phone, laptop, car or anything else with batteries being charged and discharged. It's just a fact of life with batteries.

I'm not a mech (Vamo is not a mech, it is a protected VV/VW mod, this section is about the batteries) user (yet) but from what I understand those CGRs are safe batteries to use even in them. What I've seen is the CGR batteries act about equal to the IMRs in case of a short. It would take a very unlikely chain of events for those batteries in a Vamo to have a major problem, at worst (still an unlikely chain of events) they should only get very hot.

Will you burn your house down with the charger? Probably not.
Should you put complete faith in the charger not to fail and burn your house down? Not fully, it's an electronic device and can fail.
I trust my I2 way more than I trust charging eGo batteries (which always charge in my fire containment pot) but I won't leave home with it plugged in. I won't go for a walk around the yard without it in my fire containment. I probably shouldn't but I have gone to bed with it charging in the same room figuring (hoping) I'll wake up if something does go wrong.

As far as the getting chrome when you ordered stainless goes, I think some people were mistaken when they got polished stainless and assumed it was chrome.

Thank you this is exactly the sort of information I needed!! I think I will be ordering the vamo kit just also worried about customs sticking charges on it so it end up costing more or less what it would of been through a uk vendor! Also I heard that with the vamo as its protected it's best to use unprotected battery's? And I also never leave my battery's charging alone worst I'd do is go out of the same room but will never leave the house or keep on charge while sleeping

That setup would be alright. But if you're getting a VAMO from FastTech, get the VAMO V3.

You pretty much can only use unprotected batteries in a Vamo.
There are a few that have the protection kick in high enough but not many.

There's a Vamo battery thread in the forum this was moved to where people have said what does and doesn't work you can search through before buying any extra batteries.
