The member of my family that embarrassed me is me.

The first time I cooked a turkey, I didn't even know what a meat thermometer was and certainly did have one. Needless to say the when I tried to cut the turkey it was raw. We didn't eat until really late that day. It took me many years to get enough guts to try it again and have been a pro at it ever since.

That reminds me of the time my mother and I went to an open air restaurant in Freeport, Maine.

I went to the ladies room, and the floor was a mess of toilet paper. After I came out, as I walked through the restaurant and across the patio to our table, I wondered why everyone was looking at me. I looked down, and a really, really long trail of toilet paper was stuck to my foot. I was dragging it all the way out and around the tables!

When I was little (maybe around junior high) my grand father often made an inappropriate joke at the holiday dinner table... usually with F sound...
I don't remember exactly but I am pretty sure the moment was very close to this picture....

I can so relate to this.....We had a couple of Uncles(they were brothers) who would always begin a private conversation(or one that should have been) at the dinner table....usually involving some woman they knew....or a trip to Vegas......I know I was old enough to be sitting at the grownup's table but I don't know exactly how old I was....
