Making things from can pull tabs

More my style

I have a story about pull tabs! Yes that's right, they saved my life, well they helped anyway.
I was traveling through Arizona I think, back in the day & all of a sudden my old jalopy car started to shimmy & got worse. I pulled over & saw that my wheel, where it goes on the studs, the holes were almost coming over the lug nuts, all out of round I guess you'd say! Well that was my spare & wasn't the right fit, so that's what happened & this & the rest of my tires weren't very good either but this is the way I traveled at the time, always finding used tires along the way, traveling state to state...not very smart I know but anyway, there I was sitting on the side of the road, out in the middle of no where with no traffic to be seen for hours & hours & it was very hot too & with no water of course, had a few beers though in the cooler with some ice left...SO, I was sitting there thinking, what am I going to do? Then I looked on the ground and there was all these can pull tabs everywhere and my brain said hey, maybe I could use them as shims behind the nuts, over the holes! Sure nuff, I packed em on the studs(the holes were perfect)as far as I could & still get the nuts started, locked em down, pulled em back off, more tabs & tightened up the lugs again! I was able to travel about a hundred miles & find me a new used rim,(two rims, one for spare)a couple used tires & install, all for a couple of bucks because the guys loved my story about the can pull tabs & saw first hand how they worked!
