I love some of the hair doos from the 60s.
Ok! Story time weather you like it or not, this comes to my mind!
When I was 16, 17, in HS, they had school rules and one of them was that the girls can't Ratt their hair way up high. In fact they had a measuring tool, it was a pencil and if the pencil went all the way in from the top, that this was too high, unacceptable & she would be kicked out of school for that Day!
Well my girl friend usually had her hair way up there anyway but usually could hide good from the authorities but on particular days when she would want to get out of school, she would parade around with her hair way up there, at least two pencil depths
and be sent home for the day! Some times then, I would skip out (I was good at it) & then we would meet and spend the day together...what fun it was! There was other rules too, that we learned how to get around & that brings to mind the kids of today. They just don't know how to be sneaky, I mean they do things right in front of the authorities and not because they want to be caught but because they just ain't hip to things! So I learned a lot in school, not studies but how to get away with things, to be sneaky because we new what we were facing if we got caught, so we always said mam & sir, played along and did what we wanted and didn't get caught unless we wanted to. So that's what I learned in sckool, how to be sneaky & was very good at it and still am!!!

This looks like my friends 400 Ram Air '67 GTO back in the day! He had the 2nd Quickest car at our hang out, at Jupiter's Drive in East Detroit! (East Point they call it now) I had the quickest with my Blue 426 Street Hemi '68 Plymouth though haha!His might of been the best looking though, maybe?
In the daytime,normal color..at night under new NYC sodium vapor streetlights...it looked purple..gave the local precinct patrols fits. Amd no...I'm not tellin why.

There used to be a saying that you could put a $100 bill on the dash & bet the person riding shot gun that he could have it, if he could grab it & he couldn't, if ya know what I'm talking about and my car was that quick & fast, as many others I knew of and it was kind of scary really... 
but fun & a lot of it! Oh & just to say, I love '67 Goats, one of my favorite cars, I almost got a '65 but ? I almost bought a '66 corvette too, oh and a '67 nova 327 but like they say...if ya snooze ya looze! Well actually I couldn't come up with the $s then but if ya only knew at the time...look at the prices now!
I remember those exactly and was one of my favorite past times! You could move the wing back & forth to make fly straight or do loops & they were cheap, made out of balsa wood, very light! Just throw em & have fun and when you wrecked it, a kid could get more, heck at 10cents you'd have all kinds of spare parts too! I love those, thanks for the memories jmur!

I wasn't a great gear head, but I could tear down MY rides,and usually had the extra screw left over after carb switches(still don't kno how that happened,EVERY time..lol)
What about the Prop ones w the rubber bandI remember those exactly and was one of my favorite past times! You could move the wing back & forth to make fly straight or do loops & they were cheap, made out of balsa wood, very light! Remember the guys styles of 1960ish? Well where I come from it was the Greasers(or rockers) vs the Cakes(or frats) AKA...I knew guys that looked like Elvis or something! Remember Brylcreem? Haha! AND if ya weren't with this style, or cool like the Fonz, you were considered a sissy & most likely would have to fight to prove yourself! Hahahahaha, those were the days my friends!

Yep, had them too but only special occasions because they were too expensive & you'd try to be so careful with em & wreck em right off!

Another had the 72 Caddy, 78 baby blue Caddy(wrecked) AND 79 Pierre Cardin Caddy. So. Some had it easy.. most of us didnt.
Gotta give em credit,nobody punkd out when "meeting" other crews.
Each neighborhood was divided by Crews. Avenue #'s &, #'d Streets. not $..location

Woa! Here I am back at the Shell Station, looks just like it from the 60's. I started out at what was called Eastland Standard Service Center in Michigan, in 1964, then my Boss bought a Shell station also & would work there sometimes too...being a guy with my own car, (motorcycle too) HS girlfriend & money, wow things couldn't have been better & I could always stop in, fill up & or work on my car, or just visit & or hang out as I pleased.
I could keep my car in tip top condition...don't get much better than that!!!
This was my first car my dad bought me at age 15 for $25, a '55 chevy! (or like it) It needed some work but not much really and by the time I got my license at 16 it looked brand new. Me & my friend rebuilt everything on that car, (help from my dad of course) took one year & it was a fine machine!

I worked at a full service station while in high school also. We even did truck tires, like dump trucks, and the like. We had no machine for this, it was done by hand. Break 'em down with a shop hammer, and curved chisel looking tool.
One day I got to work, and found 4 road grader tires waiting for me.
My first car was a 53 Chevy Coupe. Cost me $50... the flat head 6 engine leaked oil like a sieve. My next car was a 57 Ford Fairlane, with the Highway Patrol Interceptor package.

... we jumped unassisted.
