Other wicks wth the coils?

I'm confused what is the coil wick? here's two white strings that soak up ejuice in my tanks, I thought those were the wick. I take those out and wash them from time to time and put them back in. As long as I don't mix flavors they vape fine. Not optimally, but fine.
Is there another set of wicks I didn't know about?

Those two strings ARE the wicks. One goes through the coil. The other is a flavor wick. 
Once I went cotton (not with a Halo-branded clearo, but one that's very similar), everything else just tastes rotten. Seriously. It's a night and day difference. Just have to let it soak a few hours before using, and be careful not to hit it with too much power!
I tried the teflon tape trick and it works GREAT. I have a handful of coils with just the main wick that needed to be replaced. -Went from 4 useless extra coils to two that now work like new. I need to buy some extra 2mm wick!

I roll the teflon tape tightly around a dry wick {that is cut clean at one end} and some of the tape must go past the wick end to form a point to go through the coil. It will twist right through.
yeah I still havent mastered the out part it they dont seem to twist out for me without unwinding the coil and bringing it with it. Of course the wicks are a little gunked up but dry.
If it is difficult to REMOVE the wick, maybe the coil is gunked up. I am referring to re-inserting another wick into an empty coil.
I've never had problems removing it.
Hold both ends of the wick, one in each hand, and then use a spare finger to flip the coil assembly over, 1 turn. Use two fingers to move the coil assembly along the twisted wick.
Easy peasy.

I think my coils are too far gone by the time I try this they just arent coming out. On the bright side I have mastered rebuilding the coils instead. I find it easiest to wrap the coil on a finish nail and then thread it in with the Teflon technique.
