I picked mine as I am using my 'nickname' of Grumpysanta. My real name is Mick Hinton. I got the 'nickname' because of my lack of tolerance of children and because I have a beard. I used to work in a retail outlet where the predominant company attire was red. The shop had a nasty thing called 'meet and greet' which basically meant approaching everyone who entered the store, an idea I never agreed with. It was Christmas time and we had to take turns greeting whilst wearing a santa hat and a little boy looked up and said “Look mommy, it's Father Christmas'. This caused great amusement for all the staff and the name has stuck with me ever since.

This is me with my beloved Fender Strat playing at one of the many clubs I go to. If you want a laugh check out mickhinton on Utube

Dave Allen was funny as hell! I liked his take on quitting smoking
fine for spitting in public $25
fine for not picking up your dog's crap $20
fine for smoking in restricted area $50

so if you quit smoking, you can still go out and enjoy a good spit, let your dog crap to it's heart's content, and still have a fiver to take home. HAHAHAHA!!

My pic?
Well, i needed a pic of someone smoking, and Dave Allen kept popping up in my head (brainwashing from childhood; i spent a lot of time watching "Dave Allen at large")!

Oh yeah, I haven't got a bike, but i do have this:

Mine is a picture of a young Nick Cave. I chose that and my username as I've been into his music since 1990 when I first heard The Mercy Seat off the album Tender Prey. I've seen Nick and the Seeds live three times too. Cracking gigs.

Remember seeing Nick Cave a few years ago - sent shivers down my spine... YouTube - Nick Cave God is in the house (at later)
Absolutely brilliant!!

@ Grumpy - a bit of Hank Marvin fan eh... I was weaned on the Shadows by my fender strat playing father - great stuff - and very nice guitar skills to boot!

P.S. Almost forgot... my avatar's pretty self explanatory - a bit boring really! I'd far rather have a rockstar as an avatar or something a bit more interesting - I think I'll sleep on it! Goodnight/morning all.... :)

My Avatar is (obviously :) !) Joe Camel and has everything to do with my obsession for anything to do with the Camel cigarette brand.

I worked for the company in The Netherlands for a year (I'd been smoking the brand for more than 10 years by that time) and that set off a collecting mania resulting in me now owning a HUGE collection of Camel advertising stuff (except regular cigarette packs, never did collect those).

It is my dream to one day own a house with an extensive basement, to be used as a games room and decorated with all my Camel stuff, a Camel advertising museum of sorts I guess ;).

I also love the clothes, shoes, bags and watches, which all form part of the collection but are worn and used daily, both by myself and my better half (got him hooked too  !), great quality stuff !

(And the worst {or best :p?} bit, proving my total Camel mania ?
In 2006 I got myself a Joe Camel tat on my right ankle ! Bad huh  ?!
This is what it looked like freshly finished)

And that's the story of my avatar...

Cheers,
Silver

PS And then I came to New Zealand, where they don't sell Camel Blue (Lights)....
PSS And then I discovered the E-cigarette ...

Madog, I had a visit from a friend today who is an engineer. She said she would make me an ecig with a good battery for my birthday in January. Your mod threads were great for giving her an idea of how it could be done and we watched your video about the tyre valve. Thanks for the ideas :thumb:
