Its not quite mosquito season. I just started vaping last monday, then on Wednesday I had a strange outbreak of bumps on my skin. Some close together, others far apart.

I have three on my left arm, and one on my left cheek, one on my right arm, and one on my left ankle.*

I used to get these when I was younger and suffered from asthma and took ventolin (inhaler). It isn't quite mosquito season, so I don't think they are mosquito bites. Has anyone ever gotten this sort of thing immediately after picking up vaping?

if so, that has got me a little worried about it. Analogues never gave me mosquito bites.

It's very possibly an allergic reaction to PG. Check some other threads related to PG. Quite a few people have stated the same kind of thing happening and the general consensus is, it could be allergies to PG. And some inhalers use PG I believe. You may want to try VG bases instead.

Those are most likely hives, and yes, they are a common allergic reaction.

Are you using PG, VG, or both mixed together? Some people are allergic to PG, some VG. If you are using both mixed together, your safest option is to quit completely because you don't know which you are reacting to and you risk another, stronger reaction by continuing. If you are using 100% of one or the other, you could try the other one to see if you are sensitive to it as well.

I agree with Jan here. It could be VG, PG or flavorings. Hives is a sign of an allergic reaction.

Don't most asthma inhalers have PG? The fact that Ventolin also caused this would make me suspect a PG allergy. I'm not a doctor though.

From what I have read, no. There was a thread here somewhere , that spoke to that. People were checking their inhalers and could find no PG listed. It is used in some inhalation therapy.

I got curious and cross referenced Ventolin and Propylene Glycol.

Interestingly enough, in 2001 Ventolin was discontinued. Its been years since I've used an inhaler.

    Ventolin Nebules Drug Information, Professional

All the way at the bottom, it lists the Propylene glycol as a delivery device.

I think i'm going to stick it out for just a littl ebit and see how bad the hives get. Maybe they'll go away on their own. Unfortunately, I just bought some rather expensive juice that is PG based. I'll have to get a good VG juice to test as an alternative.

Interesting! I got the same reaction on my first day too. Left arm tricep and the right arm above the elbow. They felt like mosquito bites and went away quickly. I also had excess phlegm and a sore throat. I was vaping prefilled carts and they were PG. All my refill fluids were ECOpure (all VG) from Cignot. I'm not sure if this was just a transient reaction to vaping in general or an allergy to PG. I haven't had a problem since, but I'm sticking to VG only just to be safe.

There are _some_ inhalers that use PG ... and some that don't.

I am sure there may be a few, but the people in the other thread with asthma all looked at their various inhalers and could find NO pg in them., which is what I originally said.
Do you know of the ones that DO use pg?
