my Provari is a V1 and I don't have any need for the upgrade , I know what I like as in single coil cartos and my ZAU and I don't have a need for the higher amps watts etc on the V2 , that was mainly for the dual coil carto people and if you know anything dual coils are junk .

if the product is built and tested properly out the gate upgrades aren't needed , they are just a want as in Apple releasing a new Iproduct every couple of months because they know the consumer these days are MUST HAVE NOW sheep and will be fleeced .

I still use my silver bullet every day and that is a 3 almost 4 year old mod and yes I upgraded to a kick sleeve to have the ability to control the wattage but that was a add on :)

Well, if your dear Provari would be able to upgrade firmware, you could add the VW feature by just downloading a new version. Would have saved you the money to buy a new toy :)

To me it looks like a big gimmick. A device for people that think by using this they will have a better vaping experience. Really if you think a little you know it is not. It might be appealing all the LED's and settings but really it is not going to blow you away or be any better then what is already out there. You can give this device to a novice and he/she will have the same crappy vape if they don't know what to put on top of it. IMHO it is about the heat of the wire, not so much voltage or wattage or how shiny the unit looks. After 3 years + of vaping every device that has been on the market I dare to say that the best vape is achieved when you have all the variables perfect: the device, the batteries, the the ingredients, all together in harmony will give you that experience. You can achieve that with little money, no fancy high tech devices but with the knowledge of what those variables mean.

It is like cooking: you think a digital oven will make a better dish?

That's the whole point of wattage. So you're kinda conflicted there. You could have just written "it's all about the wattage" since that IS what you said before dismissing wattage for some reason.

The whole point of variable wattage is to try and make it easier for people to zero in on that good vape across a variety of tops.

Stuff like the device tracking "puffs taken" and "puffs remaining" may be completely worthless to you. That's fair. There's a lot of stuff on my phone I don't use. But others do. And some stuff I do use others don't. I actually love the idea of the battery measurement once it's proven accurate.

Of course, I'm skipping the v1 cause I don't trust v1 on a device like this. But I don't see a ton of bells and whistles that are worthless. VW is a great concept, the battery meter (once proven accurate) is a GREAT concept. The puff tracking is of minimal use to me but I like the idea of long term usage tracking potentially. And, btw the price is rather decent compared to other VV/VW tube mods.

Why not? The hardware is the same aside from the branding.

From the outside it is. From the inside i simply cannot say. And i can imagine Joyetech and Ovale wanting to go different paths with their firmware and build in a software based protection to prevent uploading the firmware of the other one.

But feel free to try yourself :) I'm as curious as you are. Just not willing to risk my eVic at this point ;)

It means that having the ability to freely and easily upgrade your device from home is a legitimate and viable feature for the ecig market. Unless someone wants to argue that upgrading your device at cost or buying a new revision is better than doing it for free ....

i was referring to your comment about provari users not being here ??
seems like almost all of the overseas brands of pv have to do at least 3 upgrades to get it right ??

why the hell would i want VW ?? i tried it and the hype is just not there ,,vw did nothing to improve my juice flavor or th !!

I never said Provari users wouldn't be here. I said if the Provari had the ability to be plugged in and upgraded for free from a computer there would be very few ecf members using a v1 Provari.

I mean, I can't imagine a Provari user saying they'd rather spend money and have their device sent away for an upgrade compared to keeping it at home and upgrading it in seconds for free. (If that option was theoretically available)

That example shows why upgradable firmware through a computer is a viable feature in the ecig market and just a gimmick/needless option. Saving time and money is always a positive thing in my book.

Hmm, I'm sure even you are able to get my point. If not, i'm starting to get the impression you're just trolling this thread.

The software updates are coming from Joyetech, even for the Ovale-branded model.

... to change things up a bit

I have been using the eVic for a few days while I've been on the road and it has been doing well.
I would usually leave my Provari at home as the 'house ....' and take an eGo Twist. This is inexpensive enough that I don't mind taking it out and letting it get beat up a bit. I'm liking the battery life. I've seen about a day and a half of moderate vaping on a single charge. On that point it sure beats my Twist.

I don't get this. Than you would be saying the same exact thing for VV.

Watts = Volts² / Resistance

The entire purpose of VW is to give someone the ability to keep the heat on the wire consistent without having to dial in the settings each time they change devices.

But even without that, you can use VW the same way you would VV. When you adjust the wattage you're actually upping the voltage. In fact, really, on a VV device when you up the voltage what you're really doing is attempting to increase the watts as the above formula shows.

Even if you decide you like adjust one part of the equation over the other, I can't imagine how anyone would understand this and not see the potential in VW for certain people.

actually you did

As in ... there wouldn't be many Provari v1 users on the forums because they would be v2 users due to the ease and no cost of upgrading themselves.

And there is more things that can be changed in the firmware than just adding VW so no, that really wasn't my point. But again, just because you find VW useless doesn't mean everyone feels it's useless to begin with.
