No, the head did not pop off but I have quite a few deep scratches on the tube and the back side of the control head.

I think I would trade the scratches for a loose head. I need to set mine with some glue since it now will pop off much easier and I am afraid the wires are going to get detached.

After slogging through quite a few pages of discussions about firmware, fireware updates, pros and cons of updatable firmware etc. I can tell you the secret.

If it comes with upgradeable firmware, that is good and bad. Good because they can fix it. Bad because they might send it out defective.
I've been watching this for years with video games. before every game console was hooked to the internet, game developers actually finished games before shipping them off to be sold. Now they just get the game playable, send it off to be made into discs, (to meet deadlines and release dates) and spend the next two months feverishly polishing the game. You cheerfully buy the game, pop it into the console and are faced with..."The day one update!!!"

Relax. It's the future of electronics. In twenty years, we will probably be talking to our PV's instead of pushing buttons. in less than two years I bet we get touch screen or at least touch sensitive mods.*

EDIT: *I have been informed that touch sensitive mods already exist.

E-cig stuff comes out defective half the time anyway. I watch reviews of mods and see all kinds of weirdness or missing options, I'll take the day one update rather than being ...... I bought a v1 rather than the v2 that came out three weeks later.

Off Topic.
I've often suspected that there were no people involved in the translation and that it was done by computer translation programs.

Here's another eVic review for your consumption. I wanted to wait a bit before writing and filming since I expected there to be some kinks with the initial firmware. While a lot of the initial reviews were good, I think they were too hasty with their judgements. Please keep in mind that I've been reviewing mobile tech and consumer electronics for 16 years, so my perspective going into the review was, perhaps, a bit different. With firmware 1.0, the eVic was an "okay" vaping device. With firmware 1.1, it's now a very good mod with some accuracy issues. I'm excited to see how much better it can get through software updates.

Lots more details in the full text review here.
