I was watching a video where a guy said you are supposed to put the side of the coil that goes over the top to the center post, does that actually matter at all? I have it the opposite way right now, just never heard that before
To each his own. In a sense, that could tilt the coil in a downward direction toward the drip well, where you want the tail end of your wick to sit. With all my adjusting and twisting it usually doesn't matter which end I have in the center post.
It's personal preference is all. It makes no difference to the coil whatsoever and makes no difference to the coil resistance, which solely depends on the length of the wire.
The reason i fit some of my coils a certain way is because i like to use RxW or ReadyWick and a coil in a certain orientation makes it easier for a right or left-handed person to screw the wick in.
there are 2 ways to mount any coil. A COIL can be mounted either way.. Now sometimes in some atty's, for some builders the orientation matters. Electrically it does NOT.
Won't affect your build resistance one way or the other. It's totally personal preference and how easy you liked to be able to adjust the angle of your coils etc..
Ditto, I like to put the over wrap on the outside as well because it makes a lot more room for wick placement. Plus I wrap right-handed coils and I like being able to push the coil over to the middle of the deck without the deck unscrewing at the 510 connection.
