All I have ever used is a Bic, works fine for me. I have oxidized before twisting the wick, and just blackened the coil area after twisting.

That's good to know... I have my first mesh wick rba comming in a week or so. I bought one of those $9 mini did clones from china when I ordered my vamo just to get it a try before buying a more expensive mesh wick rba.

I was hoping to just use this refilable candle lighter / fire starter that I have already it does put out a bigger flame than a bic so it sounds like I'll be good to go.

So all I really need to do is twist the mesh and then oxidize the end where the coil goes.. I do have to make sure I oxidize where the mesh goes through the wick hole as well right? And the coil does need to be suspended above the bottom so it doesn't make contact with the bottom also?

My wicks sit at the bottom and rub on the sides of the wick hole without being burnt. Just blacken it where the coil goes and dry fire until the hot spots are gone.

If the coil is isolated from the wick it should not matter if the wick is in contact with the body of the device either at the hole in the deck or the bottom of the tank.

Now that I think about it, you are right.. I am just anxious to get my new toys over the next 2 weeks. I've been using a twist clone with a evod and phoenix clone for awhile now.. I have a vamo, mini did clone coming from china like a mentioned probably in 2 weeks since they are preparing shipment right now and I have a RDA and Protank coming this week...
