Wats up i've been searching for a way to make my roughstack black. Its the rocktumbled finish RS. I have a black vapemate and love the way black anodized looks but got a feeling it'll be too expensive to get jus that anodized. Im pretty decient w/ a can of spray paint but culd use some tips to get a good durable glossy finish.

Any suggestions?

Acrylic paints should adhere to the Roughstack pretty easily as well as the spray-on texture coating. Just make sure that no matter what paint you use, to use a spray sealant/varnish. I am actually planning on painting my roughstack black as well LOL. Ordered it this afternoon and coming up with some customizing designs. I think this one is going to stay fairly simple though. Black with thorn vines wrapping around it with a tiny blue rose cameo strategically placed.

I'd really consider having it powder coated instead of painted. My local powder coating company only charges about $10 for most tube type mods, and with that tumbled finish it should have pretty good surface adhesion qualities, and the powdercoating is FAR more durable than any paint you could put on it.

I like the $10 powder coating...that's a helluva deal. But, if you can't powder coat, a good paint job will last a long time. Here's a couple of RS's I've done and they are holding up quite well after a couple of months. By putting on a good poly coat over the paint you can "repair" it should you sratch it up.

It's been said over and over again....the secret is in the prep. You can get a good paint job or a fast one....but not both.

Wrinkle finish paint has worked well for car parts I have done. It takes a long time to fully cure in my experience. I did a properly prepared aluminum valve cover and 24 hrs later I added a clear coat which lifted the wrinkle finish. I ended up skipping any clear coat and it still cleans up and looks great 5 years later.
