AW is Andrew Wong, you can contact him here: AW's LiIon Batteries Sales Thread *Part 12*

AW picks select panasonic cells to his particular specifications and then sells them. If you're familiar with computer components, this would be similar to memory suppliers like Corsair, G.skill, Mushkin, etc. They're all using chips by the same manufacturers, but they're selecting specific chips which meet their (much tighter) tolerances for performance. AW is essentially selling the best-of-the-best panasonic cells.

I understand what you are saying about your memory analogy. I have dealt with “higher end” memory module. With this analogy you can see that the manufacturers usually pick modules with specific RAS/CAS timing, voltages ect.

I would agree with strontium though. If you look at the link you provided:

AW's LiIon Batteries Sales Thread *Part 12*

It seemed that all AW did was cut & paste the information from the following links (look in the data sheets):

https://industrial.panasonic.com/www-cgi/jvcr13pz.cgi?E+BA+3+ACI4002+NCR-18650A+7+EU
http://industrial.panasonic.com/www-data/pdf2/ACA4000/ACA4000CJ255.pdf
https://industrial.panasonic.com/eu/news/nr201005IE002/nr201005IE002/Press_Release_Li-Ion_NNP_E.pdf

I can understand your point if AW offered better or “tweaked” battery characteristics but they seem to be a mirror image of each other. The AW P18650 -31 seems to be just a re-branded / heatshrinked Panasonic NCR18650A.

Lets do a price comparison (all are protected 3100mah):
-AW P18650 -31 : $19.75+$4.50 shipping = $24.25
-Orbtronic Panasonic NCR18650A : $12.99 + free shipping = $12.99
-Callie's Kustoms NCR18650A : $15.95 + $6.00 shipping = $21.95

The AW is the most costliest brand to get. Orbtronic is about half the cost and Callie’s is about $3 cheaper.

We would have to presuppose AW does quality control beyond the capabilities of Panasonic or was somehow able to pick and choose specific cells from their supplier to get the “cream of the crop”. This would be the most positive view to justify the price disparity between the other suppliers. I personally believe that it is just a re-branded panasonic. Draw your own conclusions.

Either way both cell are proven reliable performers (not just talking about vaping). I just choose to go the cheaper route. :)

Panasonic NCR18650A 3100mAh Protected Battery(One) [NCR18650A 3100mAh Protected] - $13.96 : Led Flashlight-International Outdoor Store
I bought but have to wait a couple of weeks from China
I've not tried these but some others from the same place---Pansonic 18650 listed as safe as IMR but 2200 mah
They are good batteries
Good deal. Will have to put in my order as soon as I find out if they fit my provari since they are thicker due to the extra insulation.

That is exactly what I am trying to say.

Those batteries are all the same Panasonic NCR18650a wrapped in black PVC+ protection add-on.

Great site. Nice prices on batteries and extensive selection of flashlights. I think I will stick with Orbtronics though. Their Panasonic NCR18650A 3100mAh Protected Battery are a dollar cheaper and they offer free shipping. Also, they are located in the US.

Don't try these 3100 mAh versions withe provarie they don't work don't know if it's a contact issue or not but I have a set and so far it's no joy.

Provari will accept only full button top battery, while Lavatube will accept both half, and full button top.

Some people here use small round magnet as a button top...

Where can one get these magnets?

They are pretty easy to find online. Make sure to use this dimensions/specs.

K&J Magnetics - Products

N52 is strongest magnetic grade so it will not move around.

These magnets are fun to have in any household, you will see how strong these little magnets are ;)

I do not know anything about this store , it was listed in Google search- you might find a better deal , but these are the right magnets that people use, when battery is too flat on positive side.

The Callies Kustom 2250 IMR 1MM Flat Top works in both of my Provaris,,,, although I have heard a couple of people that have said they have purchased the Panasonic and they have not worked, I dont know why because the specs are the same and so are the 1mm tops I believe. I would like to know why this is myself seeing I have a bunch of the Callies Customs and they all work in Both of my Provaris ? maybe the contact on the bottom of the chip of the Provari is different on some of them ? don't know ?

It is not about batt. specs (they are all the same cgr18650ch Panasonic), it is about Provari . Positive end is not making contact if battery is flat top. You are absolutely right, it is all about Provari inner measurements.

You can see cgr18650ch modification from 1mm flat top, to full top. This will probably solve all Provari "not making contact" problems.

IMR Hybrid 2250mAh Panasonic CGR18650CH 18650 With Button Top High Drain Battery Cell 3.7V

Callies Customs are cgr18650ch with a small Callies label attached , that's all.

EDIT: freelinuxer , you are fast :)
