LED, if you use one, with a resistor anything from 400 to 600 ohms for a blue, green or white LED (2.5 to 2.8 volt drop) and 330 to 470 for a Red LED (1.8 to 2.1 volt drop) I used 120 ohms and a spot focused green one. About 10ma and doubles as a flashlight
