Cast aluminum may be hard to paint, might try some kind of sticker or something.

The key is the prep....get it right and do a polyurethane final and the finish will be durable and look good for a long long time.

I like using 18ga solid on my mods, so much easier to work with than stranded. Very solid lookin' mod, great job!
