Thinking of dyi'ing a dna30 box mod. Ideally, I would like to have 2 18650's running it but not sure wether to put the batteries in series or parallel or if its even an option with the Dna30 chip. What are the pros and cons for each? Haven't made any purchases yet as I am currently trying to gather as much info as possible.

Cheers!:vapor:

Don't know what the chip wants for voltage....

batteries in series the voltage is added, so two freshly charged gives a nominal voltage of 8.4 (ish)

Batteries in parallel the current is added, so voltage will be nominally 4.2 and the current available will be the sum of the two matched cells.

It's important any time you use more than one cell that they be a matched pair.

Have fun, and be safe!

You can't put them in series the voltage would go to 8.4 volts. Do them in parallel. Will still be 4.2 volts when charged and you will get a higher mah rating. Us a good battery like a sony vtc5. FYI I just built a SX350 35watt upgraded it to 60 watts. I have two Sony vtc5's and a chip that can be upgraded if they do any more. 20140812_005358.jpg20140812_005337.jpg
You would fry that chip if you did series. Maybe you need to do some more homework on that chip. If you want help PM me. Hate to see you waste your money on a meltdown. I am a former tech and do a lot of diy stuff. May be able to save you some money or point out some things like the Hammond 1590B box that will hold two single 18650 battery holders the chip a 16mm button and the best 510 connector on the market at Fat Daddy's site. Can also give you links to tactile switches for a lot cheaper than say AtoZ vapors price.
