Passthrough not working when plugged into car stereo USB...any help?

So I can use my USB charger to charge my batteries by plugging it into the USB port on my Kenwood car stereo, but when I plug my passthrough into it, I get no power. It works fine plugged into my PC and laptop, just not the car stereo.

Any idea why?

It requires a 2 amp USB power output. My guess is that your USB connection in your stereo for an MP3 player is 1-1.5. If you check the V4L site under "Accessories" they sells a 12v USB connector for your car so you may want to check that out. I'm not 100% sure but I think Radio Shack also sells them, because I've heard of 12v USB adapters with 2 ports.

Thanks, makes sense. I figured it was probably something to do with the power output of my stereo, but wanted to make sure. The USB car adapter will be added to my next order from V4L.

my friend got one of those 2 port usb thingamajigs so she could use it on her drives between states! I should get me one of dem

I have a two-port(came with my phone), and it is convenient.

Something to watch for with a lot of two port USB connectors is when using both ports the power is half. I had a 2 port 2 amp USB, but if I used both each port put out 1 amp. Ya just need to make sure when you buy it that it puts out 2amps per port.
