I've scoured the threads on this but can't seem to get a definitive answer. For a typical PT (specifically kr808d-1) do they run at 5v? I ask this because I get better vapor and TH using PT with my Turbo Cartos... however I seem to start tasting a slight plastic/burnt taste with them after just a couple of refills. If I put the same (used) carto on my manual battery the plastic/burnt taste is not as pronounced. (I hardly ever use batteries so I really don't know if I would have this issue if I only used them.)

So am I correct to assume that the PT is running higher voltage? Everything I've read says in order to run a PT you need an adapter rating of at least 5v/1mp (or 1.5amp) - mine is 5v/1amp - so does that in itself mean its running at 5 volts? So (if my hunch is right) am I burning out my turbos sooner because of using my PT?

Thanks

Hi Kris, I have been using a 510 pass through for a couple of weeks now. I made sure that mine was the 3.7 volt type, because my atomizers are low voltage. I also use KR808D-1 cartomizers on a 510 battery and they work fine, so I assume that the carts must be 3.7 volts. It appears to me that your PT is running at a higher voltage.
Hope this helps.

Thanks Jerry - good to hear from you again! I hope you are doing well. I just would like a decisive answer on this. I'm thinking of buying an ego or riva - but i have all these 808 cartos and was just wondering if i should continue using them on my 808 PT - or should i just use them on my 808 battery?...can i use them on the ego? I got these because they are so much cooler...but they seem to burn out quick (note - I tend to only use my PT). So that's why I am wondering if PT's are running higher voltage and if because of that if my cartos are crapping out sooner than they should?

Kris, it sounds to me like your PT is running at 5 or 6 volts, that would burn out your carts faster. I just ordered an EGO and the 808 cartos should work fine on it or on a 510 battery, providing you have a KR808D-1 (cart) to 510 (bat) adapter.

If it was me, I would get an adapter and use the 808 carts on the EGO and the 808 batts. Try to find out the voltage output of your PT.

I'm doing fine, I hope you are doing well also.

it is my understanding that a pt with an inline battery is running at 3.7v (or the battery voltage). those without an inline batt are running at 5v, and of course your amps will vary depending on source (wall v usb).

That's my understanding also eJoker. Of course to every rule there is an exception, the "Sit & Go" PT for the 510 runs at 3.8 volts, and doesn't have an inline batt.

Thanks for the input.

Jerry - yes I do have the proper adapter to work with the 808 cartos. just don't want my 808 PT to go to waste. The thing works great! ...other than the burning issue <sigh>

Do you have a volt meter, Kris ? You could check the voltage on the PT and if it's higher than 3.8 volts, add a resistor to lower the voltage. If it's 3.8 volts or lower, then maybe you are puffing too much on it and heating up the cartomizer. Just a thought.

I wonder if they make high voltage cartomizers for the 808 ???

I would think it would be slightly higher. The PT acts as a battery charger, and to charge a batt you need to have slightly higher voltage. IE, my eGo charger is rated at 4.2 volts. I would imagine that would be closer to it.

Damn - I think all the drama (and lurkers) are in the "Outside - Obama Rocks thread" at this current time. Boy is it getting heated up over there. I just wish some more wouldtake an interest in my measly (boring) thread. Oh well - one can only wish.

I have been watching it Kris, I should take bets as to when it's going to be "closed". It shouldn't be too long now. :D

kgeiger002 I'm assuming you have a 5v passthrough (no inline battery) . Most cartomizers will end up burning at 5v. It helps to of course to keep them wet - the liquid will burn a lot faster with a 5vpassthrough than with a regular battery. I drip a few drops on the battery end occasionally when I use my passthrough just to make sure it wasn't dried out. I've used the Turbo Cartos and they are great but it's a gamble with most cartos when you use a passthrough. The cartomizers are really designed to work with 3.7v or so.

The only cartomizers I had luck with not burning with the passthrough were IKen SLB cartos. I used them on the passthrough and they never burnt for me. But on the flip side other people have said the SLB cartos burnt on them.(Unfortunately at 5v it's a gamble.) You would need a 808 to 510 adaptor though to use them.
