I dont think you got the wrong one. I got my PT today and the same thing happened to me, I couldnt get it to work at all.. I put the JSB atty on it and there was nothing, I put a joytech atty and it works wonders now.. The atty on mine also sits up a few hairs like you said so if you have a different atty try that.. Hope this helps

Thanks, you helped bigtime. This is very odd. I tried an e-smokeytreats atty, and got a little wisp of vapor (but it wasn't a great atty, it needs exorcism or something). Then I put in a new atty from the last big batch from Puresmoker, which should be identical to the one that's not working w/the passthru, and it's working. WTF??? The first Puresmoker atty works FINE on the Prodigy but not at all with the passthru. That makes no sense.

I'm actually not that impressed, though, and this is the 2nd passthru I've had that failed to blow me away -- the regular 510 passthru I got, before getting a Prodigy, also didn't really cut it. I'm wondering if it's something about my USB source. I get a decent amount of vapor, but not as much taste... and that seems to be a function of the amount of heat. The Prodigy heats the atty more than the passthru does. I never tailpipe with the Prodigy 'cuz it gets too hot, but I can tailpipe with the passthru -- it gets a little warm. I see nothing glowing. Maybe I need to look at other power sources, 'cuz something's wrong and it can't be 2 separate passthrus.

Crud, now I gotta go learn more stuff. Does it ever end? LOL...

arrrgh... Got it working, it's kinda meh, I started reading about power issues, am now reading that maybe it's not such a great idea to plug the passthru DIRECTLY into your computer's USB port, and no one seems to agree which is the best alternate power source. They have posted links to power-packs I could use with my flippin' PSP (not PureSmokerPassthru but PlayStationPortable).

With 6 months I expect to be vaping with a Protégé plugged directly into a PSP as I play Loco Roco 3. When Expensive Hobbies Collide!

PROS.
It's the only PT you can use with multiple voltages.
I have it hooked up to the Tekkeon powerpack and can vape from 3v~7v depending on my mood or hit request.

The cable is sturdy compared to other PT'S that have a relatively thin cable.
The cable is nice and long so it can reach a USB port without using complicated extensions.

The cable's entrance into the body has a tear protection feature, or at least it looks like the UL approved part that is fitted onto AC devices for tear protection.

The PT body is the perfect length and should span the entire palm of your hand. Feels good and is lightweight.

The atty's screw on with minor effort, ever so lightly. No need to fiddle and turn.

The brass surfaces are easy to clean, simply touch them with a kleenex to absorb any excess juice deposit.

Cons

It's not wireless !!!

yes it will because it will only draw current upto what it needs and no more. It will not draw anymore current then it is capable of doing.

R.F.

No, i do not think this is correct.
I am vaping a 510 and a 801 atty at 4 ~ 7.5 v
The multimeter shows that the PT is outputting the different input voltages.

I think anything over 7.5 v is too harsh for the throat.

OK
You are looking at voltage, not current. Current(amps) is the amount of electrons, voltage is the pressure of the electrons. What he said is correct.
