Hi All, I want to try a passthru and dont know where to start, I have an Evo from intellicig and would like to know where to get the equipment needed to do this for my Evo.
Also I would like to know if there are any other stockists that supply attys etc for my Evo instead of just Intellicig, dont get me wrong Intellicig are brilliant I have ordered from them twice so far and delivery is here within 2 days, I just want to keep my options open.

I can't tell you where to get one, but I can pass along some information about passthroughs I've gleaned from reading about them on this forum.

They come in two flavors: with an inline battery and without an inline battery.

The one with the inline battery can safely be plugged into the USB port on your computer because the USB only charges the inline battery which in turn supplies the high current needed to power the atomizer. This type only supplies 3 - 4 volts, though. Also, as long as the inline battery is charged the passthrough does not have to be plugged into the USB port.

The one without the inline battery is designed to supply the full 5 volts from the USB port but it also tries to draw the full amount of current required to power the atomizer. Usually this is way more than the USB port is designed to handle (around 500 mAh, or 0.5 Amps, I think) and you run the risk of destroying either the USB port, computer's motherboard, or both.
To safely use this type of passthrough it's suggested you use either a powered USB hub or an AC USB adapter. Both of these should be rated for at least 2 Amps and should be capable of powering the batteryless passthrough without any problems.

I do not offer a solution for a preferred passthrough but I do have an observation for what I have dealt with. I got a manual cheapo from overseas along with some attys and whatnot it barely lasted 2 weeks. I got another (auto) with a kit from vapor4life that I do enjoy however it has a cutoff as most do, but no real complains other than getting it to activate. Passthroughs can be made cheap and wear out so for me I want one that is of good quality. I would like to try the one from puresmoker but its out of my price-range for now and I have LR attys that will get me by on my silver bullet at 3.7 just fine. Something to keep in mind as well is there are 3.7 volt models and 5volt or just called High voltage models. It really depends on the usb ports output at that point because most put out between 4-5 volts but some have a battery in the middle of the cord that charges and outputs a clean 3.7 volt (give or take, but preforms like a 3.7 volt batter would). I prefer to place mine on a powered usb hub just so It doesnt have a chance to surge on my computers port and isnt too good for the computer(wich has happened on both I have used). But I suppose the first question would be 3.7 or the proclaimed "high voltage passthroughs".
