I sent Paypal a nastygram when I started seeing all the vendors having their accounts shut down. I basically said that they shouldn't be able to restrict how I spend my money through them... they are basically a secure way for me to use my money (bank account, credit card, etc) to pay for things on the internet.. they really shouldn't care at all about what it is that I am buying, its my money and they are middle men. While this is not entirely my belief, I was upset, and the truth is they really do have the right to say no account to anyone they wish, but I don't have to like it. I didn't swear or call them names, just a "shame on you" type email.

Well, I got a call on saturday from the guy who claimed to be the one in charge of shutting down accounts. He basically said that he looked through the accounts of vendors and none have ever been shut down for selling e-cigs. He said that it is not their "current" business practice to shut down these vendors for selling e-cigs, but should a ban happen it would definately happen. I obviously called BS on his statement and asked how several of these vendors all of a sudden reported they had their accounts revoked... he said that those vendors accounts were definately not revoked due to e-cig or juice sales, but that there were other reasons that they could not discuss.

He mentioned that if any vendor thinks or is advertising that this was the reason they had their accounts frozen, they should call Paypal and discuss as they obviously are mistaken. I find all of this really hard to believe, but thought I would share my information.

so , actually paypal SHOULD be able to restrict how you spend your money through them. They are a private business. If all of the sudden paypal said "only one armed people can use paypal from now on" then that is their right. I'm sure much less people would do business with them or through them and a new online payment system would fill their void. It's called the free market.
