Hiya all-
Just a quick question. Got my 510 & PCC yesterday! Yay! (Very pleased so far, but waiting on more juice...)

Anyway, for some reason I'd gotten the idea that the PCC could also work as a carrying case. Maybe I got confused with the one for the 901, which has more slots. There doesn't seem to be any way to carry a complete 510 in there without it being actually engaged with the charging element. Am I missing something? Does it hurt anything to have it in the charger for a long time if it's already charged? (I know it doesn't matter with my wall charger, but dunno if it would hurt the PCC). Uhm... do I need something different for a day-to-day case where I'm not going to be out for a long time & need a recharge? Because manual battery + pocket or purse isn't really good. 8-o (No, didn't have any accidents, but had to keep stopping myself to find a good spot when I wanted to put the PV down).

Ahh, okie... thanks for the replies all... I guess I was thinking of the 901 PCC. I believe that one will actually hold a spare without it engaging the charger. *goes looking*

I shall look through my assorted little boxes & containers here & see if I can find something suitable for day-to-day carrying.

Thanks! - RR

Edit: I'm still a little unclear. If I did want to carry around a spare in my PCC... obviously it would have to be taken apart... I get that part. But, is there no way to have the battery in there without it being engaged with the charger. i.e. Just carry around a battery? And would it be a bad idea for me to have it charging unnecessarily? *grumble* Guess I should have paid more attention - now am feeling like the PCC is not as cool as it seemed.

Thanks for any help

I've got a pocket clip on my 510 (Mega) and I keep it in my pocket next to my PCC. I prefer it that anyway. Don't want to have to fumble with the PCC.. take it out and open it.. when I want a hit off of my PV.

I will have to look into something like that. Do you have any problems with the manual switch getting stuck on, or does your clippy thing have enough spare space to avoid that?

The button is about 1/4" below the end of the clip (as shown) and I rotate the clip so it is 90 degrees "out of phase" with the button. Never a problem.

The clips are easy to find. For me the easiest source is the local hardware store.. they are on the really cheap (~$2) telescoping tire gauges.

Our batteries only charge when they need it, so having it in the charger will not activate the charging unless the battery is losing power.

Well, that's a cool idea. I'll have to try it out. Thank you. It's kind of amusing what people come up with. Thus far I have been to hobby stores, hardware stores & pet stores on my vaping quest. :)

Ahhh okay cool, I'll have to check that with a fully charged battery. I was just fooling with it right out of the box & they weren't charged up all the way yet. Thanks for that info.

I have a few 901 PCCs and they still have to be unassembled to fit in there, but if the battery is charged already you just dont screw it in to the bottom of the slot so the charger doesn't engage.
Could you just do that with the 510 if it is already charged?? or just put the 510 battery in upside down?

The battery on the 510 PCC doesn't screw in.. there are spring contacts. If.. for some reason.. you didn't want the battery to connect to the charging circuit, you can put it in the PCC upside down.

I was going to post something like that, but before I did, I tried it, and it doesn't work...
Nod, I tried that first, but since it's a springy thing & not any type of screw-in or click-in contact, the length is a problem regardless of how the PV is facing. Also not real sure how the charger works & would be a bit concerned about melting my PV or something. 8-o

However, I was shopping for something else entirely & ran across these cute little guys...I'm sure I could find any number of things to put my PV in, but when it's just for carrying around during a normal day, I don't want something all bulky. Scottbee's clip suggestion is also a good one, but I'm more likely to be tossing the thing in my purse than a pocket, so a wee case is perfect...and they look prettier. :p

I use my 510 PCC for charging regular batts only, not storage of PV materials. TW is going to sell, or has now, PCCs for the 510 mega batts. Not sure of the additional storage space in them.

For toting my PV gear needed while I'm out and about, I use a USB drive case I got from Microcenter:

Micro Center - Compact Portable Hard Drive Case

Fits into a coat pocket fine, and can hold a bunch of 510 gear and juice bottles. Holds mega batts too.

I found this case at Walmart for something like $6 or $7:

P15398a.jpg

I can carry 3 different 15ml bottles, with charged batteries tucked next to those bottles, PLUS my PCC, all inside this case. Fits in my jacket pocket.

That's it! Mine often has like 10 3-6 mL bottles, 4 mega batts, 3 attys, 3 carts, and a 3-mL syringe. Once I went with mega batts, I use my PCC far less often, as they last about 2x as long as a regular. So a few of those on hand and I'm good 16 hours or so, as long as I'm relatively conservative with my vaping.

Hrm cool. I like seeing all these different storage & carrying options. I have a bit of a thing for... containers. (I dunno... slight OCD thing I guess...:D).

Hehe. Saying "carrying" always makes me think gun, but I don't imagine tucking a PV in the holster with ones gun would be wise since it does heat up & all that. 8-o

Been meaning to post pics of what I'm using. (I'll do it later on. There's another thread for that I think, since right now I just have my at-home & travel stuff).

I have a makeup box for at home. It's quite hideous & girly, but it had more compartments than the plainer ones I looked at. It has 6 small fold-out trays & then some space underneath for juice & whatnot. It's even got a lock, which I'm sure wouldn't stop older kids, but probably would keep young ones out.

For longer-term travel, I have another makeup case. It's a soft case somewhat like ya'll have posted, but it's larger. More of a leave in the hotel room thing. But it would hold enough for a week out of town, I think.

I think on a day-to-day basis when I'm just out running errands or something, I'm most likely to just have my PV, a couple carts, & maybe a wee bottle of juice if I'm likely to be out a long time.

I'm not like... "OMG must smoke vape everywhere I go!" I can survive grocery shopping & all. Biggest place I'd be likely to need a chew toy would be in a bar or club where A) Others are smoking and/or B) I may be drinking, which makes me want to smoke. *shrug* Especially once I move to Austin, where you cannot smoke in bars/clubs, would be wise for me to have the option, so I don't end up out on the porch bumming an analog. I don't take my whole purse in a situation like that, so the wee ones I posted above seem good for sticking in my pocket or the side of my boot. And they look kind of cute. :p They are only $3.75 & are supposed to fit any e-cig & even some of the smaller cigars, so I went ahead & ordered a couple. I will report on how they do. (Based on the measurements they should hold a fully assembled 901, for example).

Thanks for all the suggestions, guys. I'll have to browse around the electronics cases & such at Walmart next time I'm there. (Duh... Actually, just occurred to me that my digital camera case would work perfectly. Dunno why I didn't think of that. I use it all the time for carrying a pack of analogs, ID, & cash when I don't want to keep track of a purse - concerts, bars, whatever. It attaches securely to a belt). I'll post a pic in a bit.

I'm sorry and I stand corrected. I run a modified PCC that handles the Mega batteries.. and I checked.. and it worked just fine. But you are indeed correct... it will not work (the lid won't close) on the standard 510 PCC (ran down and borrowed the wife's). My apologies!
