PCC and manual batteries - is this thing on?

I recieved my kit and with it got the PCC. I have a manual battery and the only way they will screw in is with the button face down. When I close the lid of the PCC the button is pressed in because it is face down. Will this allow my battery to charge. Is there another method I should attempt when screwing the battery in so that the button will be face up?

Also can someone translate what the color indicators are inside the PCC.

I think the one red light indicates the PCC needs to be charged. Once it's charged it turns green is that correct?

How do I know when the battery is fully charged and if it's connected properly?

I believe the button makes no difference if it's pushed while charging, red indicates charging and green is charged. I don't have a pcc yet, but I've read up on them a lot since I'm planning on getting one and I also use the manual batteries.

You should be able to unscrew it a little bit and it will still be connected.
