Peaches and Creme 100% Cotton Yarn?

Hey guys,
Went out and picked up some of this yarn today from Walmart and was about to boil it in distilled water when it occurred to me- I don't know if this is the right white! It was the whitest on the rack at Walmart, but now that I'm home it looks a bit dark...sort of a very light brown maybe? Can anyone confirm that I can or can't use this for wick? And again, I'm sorry if this is the wrong area to post this- it seems it is the only area I'm allowed to post.

Hmm. Looks like it says Ecru? That's an "off white", or some might say natural. My concern would be if it's dyed. I've only used Sugar and Cream yarn from Hobby Lobby - same stuff. Hopefully you'll get a yes or no soon.

Cotton is as cotton does. It's all good. I'd boil it up first though regardless of which cotton one gets. Not only will it get rid of any contaminants, but will help break in faster.

I'd give it try, besides, once you check out degummed hemp fiber, or Ramie fiber, doubt you'll use cotton again except for back up emergencies, and cleaning. lol. Whatever works best for you is fine. Lots of fine wicking choice to choose from.

I'd say boil it and see what color the water turns
continue boiling/rinse till water looks clear of dye, if that's the case...

can you ever really wash all the chemicals out of walmart cotton? is it worth all the time and effort spent over a stove doing this? IMO no... if you can get a real organic source for cotton then you can maybe have less bad stuff in your lungs... same reason many of us got off analogs in the first place... check out ecobutterfly pakucho worsted cotton (8 bucks for a lifetime supply) or maxim organic cotton balls (4 bucks for a lifetime supply) .... the stove should be for kraft mac and cheese...

I only boil about 4 or 5 feet at a time, squeeze out the excess, let it dry. It does dry quickly. 20-30 minutes isn't that big of a deal to me when it's gonna last quite a while.

Good point, unfortunately I received your message too late as last night I boiled the whole roll of yarn twice and its still air drying

Doesn't the "Peaches" part of Peaches and Cream imply that the yarn is white with a peach tint to it? Look for Sugar and Cream. It's pure white and I don't know if it's produced by the same company.

The white is bleached, so it's up to you!

No, the names do not coincide with the color! They're different brands, with different brand names....LOL

Well I boiled it last night twice in distilled water and its drying now. We will see how it turns out soon!
