Penelope cleaning

Hey all. Just got a used Penelope. The person I bought it from must have caped coffee or something strong and nasty.

I built my coil and filled and it capes but I taste that horrible flavor from the old owners juice.

Should I take it apart and boil the metal pieces?

Yes, you can do that and also you might want to torch the ceramic, like Scott does on the Odysseus review video (around 2:13 minute):

I just went through this today.

Soaked in ever clear. Still had some flavor.

Then I mixed vinegar, lemon juice and added baking soda to hot water and put all the pieces in.

Worked remarkably well with one exception. The orings still had a little flavor. I am guessing replacing them would make it perfect, but it is good enough for now.

Yeah it was the ceramic, the ceramic housing and the mouth piece. I torched the ceramic and the housing plus gave them all an Iso alcohol bath, boiled and dried. Seems to be all clear now. Fingers crossed

I think you just wanted to watch the reaction when you poured vinegar on baking soda.

Just don't put your Penelope in a container of water and drop in potassium. There's no coming back from that.

Mix the everclear with hawaiian punch and drink it. It won't make the coffee taste go away but after the third one, you won't care.

Since a member asked me for a video on cleaning it I just made one. I made a video on cleaning my Dual Coil Penelope at .8 ohms -1.1ohms and re using the dual coil and wick. Its still processing once its done ill post it on GG.

After.many days, I still can't get the flavor out of my o-rings.

I guess I'll just hope I can snag some soon.
