So is the new atomizer really going to be called "Penelope"?
If you were going along the lines of Homer's mythology, why not choose something...less lame? How about Telemachus? Which makes the most sense because it's the son of Odysseus. Not Penelope, his wife, who in ancient Greece would have served a lesser societal role than her husband or son in a time of war.

Or how about Dionysus?? He's the god of merrymaking and is notably a "dying god", or one who died and was REBORN, like a coil in the Odysseus.

Penelope is a symbol of marital faithfulness...that's just lame.

Penelope is not only a symbol of marital faithfulness, she's also a symbol for woman's guile (I don't know if it's the correct term - I used google translator). Don't forget that she managed to make the suitors wait for ten years, until the return of Odysseus...

I think the new GG's name has to do with the fact that it will be slim and much smaller in size than GGTS-Ody. So a female name would be more suitable.

They may be seen as a pair: Penelope when we're on the road, Ody when we're home.

Sorry for starting such a troll-mentality driven thread like this. I'm not trying to be a whiny bittch, I just don't like change and the thought of spending another several hundred on your newest invention, because I know I'm going to :(
Thanks for your explanation Imeo, and even though you haven't totally change my opinion, I have newfound respect for your reasoning behind the name and I'm in a better place of acceptance over it.
Again...sorry for kveching. I don't want to get "mwa"d for going onto YOUR forum and insulting your creative decision, that was pretty rude of me. I still think Bacchus would be cooler, but I'm just a drunk like that, so what do I know? :toast:

I have a feeling there will be plenty more GG products in the future. No doubt Imeo will get around to giving every Greek God his/her own vape-able golden trophy.
Right..

The way it generally works is that a product has an internal name, and an external name. I'm in software, and all our internal names are named for beers.. We've done 27, and have rolled the whole alphabet. We've a tradition of buying the actual beer for the team the friday after we go to production. Team building ;)

Marketing of course obfuscates that, and the internal names never hits anything customer facing. But, the name is key to internal discussion/planning, despite what the marketing declares it to be.

Imeo seems to work a bit different. The concept (release) name is the customer facing name. and it works here as he's not trying to mass market or any sort of do marketing that requires any sort of branding effort. And I'm very cool with that: Here's the idea, here's the rollout.. simple.

All that I really care about is that I know the names of the stuff that's communicated by Imeo so I know what I may (or may not) be buying. The name is nothing more than a tag for communication. Trying to find the perfect name for something is fools game, and might be wasted; Keep in mind AFS was at one time Imeo's best idea.. It seems to have evolved.

The name/s is probably a good and worthy name in Greece. Here in the US, I personally don't relate to it, nor know how to pronounce it with confidence.
In the effort to relate to it with american phonics I get penny loafer, which is an old school shoe. Which in turn creates an odd sense of confusion.
Imeo will call it what he wants and I'll just have to learn more greek in time.

Why don't you see what it is before you decide whether the shoe fits?

p.s Are you a homophobe, too, or just a misogynist?

Imeo will call his creations whatever suits him. Some people will like it - others will not. To ask RW if he's a homophobe or misogynist is not very tactful. While we are at it - I don't care for the name Penelope either - does that make me bad too? No, its just my opinion. Will it keep me from buying one? No.
