People Asking "What are You Smoking"

Anyone else get this? People ask me this almost every week. They all tend to ask if I am "smoking" the "other stuff". I always tell them that I am vaping e-juice. I never got asked this when I used cig-a-likes.

When people say I am still smoking they get a good explanation of how there is no combustion and what they see is vapor and not smoke. Never actually had someone intimate that I was smoking something "else" but have gotten some looks while driving. I usually get more thumbs up or even people rolling the window down to ask what I am vaping.

I get those same questions, and often (too often). When asked, I go incredibly literal on them and tell them "banana pudding, cinnamon rolls, cotton candy" etc.

They stop, they sniff, they smile.

No one asks... but I do get a lot of strange looks. Mainly I live in the middle of the woods, the back woods, where folks smoke cigs, other stuff and the bad stuff sooo, yeah Maybe they do know what I am doing because I never hide it. I vape right in front of the county jail and courthouse. I never hide what I'm doing so there is that.

Yup...I was once asked...Hey can I have a hit off that?I explained it was nicotine he frowned and was no longer interested.Yeah some people think it's the other stuff.

I only used cigalikes for about a month before advancing up to mods a few years ago. I'd sometimes get some curious folks asking what "that" was, and I'd explain that it was a high-tech electronic cigarette. If they were still curious, I'd go into minor detail that I was using this as a safer alternative to smoking, since what I was blowing out was not smoke but water vapor. They were always surprised by the variety of flavors available for vapers.

When vaping at outdoor jazz or rock concerts, I'd occasionally get asked for a "hit" from my vaporizer. I always declined their request and explained its not what they think but an electronic cigarette. Usually got a .

Nowadays, if I come across another vaper in the wild, I'll try to start up a conversation by asking what flavor and device they are using, while showing them my own. At least in my neck of the woods, it seems that most common folk know what vaping is, even non-vapers.

I was flyfishing for salmon on the Salmon River up in New York on Columbus Day weekend, there was a father and teenage son about 10 feet away from me. The Dad asked "What's that you're smoking?" I told him it was an electronic cigarette, he said "Yeah, I know what that is, but what is the flavor?" I said it's Vanilla Custard and if it's bothering either of you, just let me know and I'll stop. They both proceeded to tell me: "No, it smells delicious, please don't stop." LOL I was chucking clouds bro.
