I'm just honest with them. I tell them that I smoked for 35 years at a pack and a half a day. I tell them I tried cold turkey, Chantrix, gum, lozenges, patches, you name it, and nothing worked. I had a heart attack and could not stop smoking. I tell them that at that point I knew that I, like most smokers, was one of those that was just going to smoke themselves to death, as not much really works for most with this addiction. I discovered vaping, and it has been the answer for me. I explain that there is nothing in the vapor but nicotine which, despite the addictive qualities, is really no more dangerous than coffee, and that if I quit vaping I will probably go back to smoking myself to death.

That usually does it.

I've only been hassled by one person, and that was when I had just started vaping. He had quit cigarettes, but remains convinced that vaping is the same thing as smoking. Everyone else I've encountered seems fairly receptive to the idea of maintaining nicotine use. Or I'm just over-enthusiastic about the whole thing and they just say things to shut me up about it. Yeah, that seems likely.

for those that are serious about understanding or learning i will take the time to explain.... and ive been doing a whole lot of explaining....

Although I'm no scientist, it seems to make good common sense that inhaling water vapors with a few flavored chemicals is a heck of a lot safer than inhaling any type of smoke, even a "safer" smoke if something were to exist. I doubt any studies will turn up any serious side effects for most people using it, maybe some lung irritation or asthma, possibly allergies for some people. Even if there are some serious side effects, it is so doubtful that they would be anywhere near as bad a smoking. I mean their isn't a much worse side effect than "death", last I heard (ok maybe chronic pain wanna die, but different topic).

Smoking literally burns our lungs and tars them, our lungs are like a 10 year old pipe never cleaned out. Who knows, the vapor may actually have healing properties (probably not though), but who knows. If it relaxes you however, it could be better than not doing it, it's fairly obvious that a relaxed state of mind equals a longer life.

People talk a lot about the effects nicotine has as a stimulant, speeds heart rate, etc... Lots of stuff do this, caffeine, certain foods, too much sugar, etc...

The nicotine would definitely be my last concern for health compared to the other chemicals in a cig.

I just hope this helps me quit, I haven't tried it yet, waiting on my Go-go.

I have heard of a study where the PG in our e-liquid aids in the "lung cleaning" process (the coughing up of gross black projectiles as often happens when we quit smoking, lol).

Also, it is known to have anti-microbial properties. Many vapers are finding that they no longer suffer their annual flu or nasal ailments anymore.

I'm thinking that too... now if I could just keep my guts as healthy as my lungs have been!

I have just started getting those "so when are you going to quit those" questions after being off analogs for around 90 days. It's been from close friends and family, so I choose to think that it's from a place of love and concern and that they just don't have the information we have about how nicotine is not the cancer causing agent in analogs, etc. So I first try educating them on it and also point out that there are quite a few people who keep using the gum or lozenges long after they are supposed to be off them, with no ill effect. I also have bi-polar disorder, anxiety, and some other stuff so I let them know that nicotine is actually beneficial to me and they should just think of it as one of my medications.

The thing thats just poppped through my head is: - no not that unicorn dancing in the rain holding a banana in its teeth! the other thing - I think they're gonna come unstuck.... See if they PROVE that PV's are detrimental to health in some way... it will be because of the Nicotine (my guess)....then SURELY they'll have to take real fags off the market at the same time as making that conclusion...?

Am I being stoooopid? I know like cigarettes have been around years but why haven't they really taken them off the shelves conspiracy yadda yadda but if a new case proves a new thing and they use it to take off an existing product then that surely applies to other existing products etc blah yes?

Ok I'll shuddup now.
