Remember when I first started vaping, family was thrilled I wasn't smoking anymore. A month later I heard, "oh I'm so sorry its not working for you." That comment took me by surprise at the time but I quickly recovered and replied that it was working just the way I wanted it too ! Unfortunately most people see e-cigs as nothing more than a quit smoking/nicotine devise. They are clueless when it comes to the differences between smoking and vaping nicotine. Unless we educate them they will never see a difference. And sadly even when we try to educate them they tend to not listen or beleive us. No one in my family realizes I no longer vape nicotine as I still haven't chosen to tell them after two months. They only see me vaping and think its really too bad I haven't quit smoking after all these months ! Funny how what ones sees isn't always what they think they are seeing !!

My partner stills rolls down the window in the car if I vape and she is an x-smoker.

I vape on and know that I enjoy vaping and the act of smoking and have no interest in actually smoking "the stinkies" ever again. Arguing/discussing/etc. is pointless after over a year.

Strangers judging me and my vaping get even less of my time.

I realised that when I noticed the gnomes turn the garden shed into a vice den... Now I realise I must have been crazy, really its a library and they're teaching the pixies to read.

I'm joking of course, we don't have a shed. They use the cupboard under the stairs.

This is exactly what I'm anticipating from my wife. She's been on me since we met to quit smoking and is thrilled that I've gone from a pack of Tciggs to none overnight once I got my joye but I know it will be the next thing to come up after a while off the analogue's. I guess it's just human nature that if you are doing something someone else isn't that it makes it automatically wrong because they don't do it.

......... So i just ask them if they would prefer that i smoke. They shut up
Similar discussion with the wifey. She said that it's just another addiction. To that I responded, "I can always go back to cigs". She never said another word about it except when she wanted to know all the details about it, especially about the ingredients. Now she fully understands that eventually I can practically eliminate nicotine when I'm ready.

Btw she was never a smoker

So funny for so many people to be misinformed.

It's like if I quit an alcohol addiction and switched to Root Beer and then people would say, "well, how long are you going to drink that for?"

I cant tell you how many times i have heard that.... I have NO INTENTION on quitting vaping EVER! Cigs were going to be the death of me as I had 0 intention on quitting them, but something better came along and I actually like having my cake and vaping it too!! and have you ever noticed it's the ex-smokers that quit cold turkey that have the biggest problem with it???
LOL sorry... technology is great!!!

I've only been asked this a few times, but my response is always the same:

"The instant that they cure lung cancer. I can't wait to go back to real cigarettes!"

From there I launch into a mini-tirade about what a PITA vaping is versus remembering to carry a lighter around and being able to buy supplies on every corner. When I let them get another word in, it's usually to ask something like "well why do you vape, then?", to which I respond "Because smoking kills people, vaping doesn't".

What kills me more than dumb questions, though, is stupid people with stupid answers - there's a person in my circle who says "I heard that those things have anti-freeze in them" every single time the topic comes up, like the idiot caught in a room where there's a discussion about finance who at some point has to interject the phrase "buy low, sell high" because that's the only thing that they know about it. No matter how many times I explain it or correct him, whenever the topic comes up (usually people asking me what I'm doing) again, he's got his one nugget of mis-information to inject into the conversation.

The part that kills me is that he's a pothead who's totally sold on vaping pot, but I think that his short-term memory is so fried that he can't keep track of the fact that vaping nicotine liquid provides all of the same benefits that his "wicked roots" vaporizer does.

Ha. Just as I predicted "Wow you smoke that thing a lot. When do you plan on quitting that now?" I can't win!

Were are a part of the remnant of smokers, the 25% who still have the habit. We are in the minority rather than the 75/25 majority of the 1970s. So, there are more people who don't smoke than smoke. There are even more people who don't vape than those who do.

That said, there are lots of people out there who used to smoke and don't anymore. They quit using cold turkey, patches, snus, and pills. Lots of those people became anti-smoking zealots (or anti-smoking Nazis) and they still have that little part of them inside that would love to smoke again but they know that the first one would start a downhill slide right back into the habit they tried so hard to quit. That makes them uncomfortable around anything that resembles smoking.

I think these people resent the fact that we can eliminate or cut down to a safer level by vaping. They didn't have that option and would have embraced vaping if it existed when they quit. The other part of the non-smoking crowd have never smoked and don't understand why anyone would want to. These are the ones who think vaping is really ridiculous.

One of my friends calls my PV a fake cigarette. He will comment here and there, "You still smoking that fake cigarette?" I just laugh and tell him, "Yeah, it keeps me off the real ones!"

The rest who look at me funny when I pull out the Ecig and vape in front on them get my standard line when they ask about it. "This thing tastes so good that it makes a real cigarette taste like sniffing an ash tray! The good part is that no lab has found anything dangerous about it. It even uses ingredients that you get when you get an IV or a breathing treatment in the hospital. It's in your toothpaste, your salad dressing, all kinds of foods, and even the sno-cone juice in your kids snowball or slushy"
