More specifically, newbies that try vaping for the first time. I let a few people at work, all that have smoked cigarettes for years, try my pv and they all coughed right after. First they ask; ' how does this work, do I just push the button?' Then they take a tiny pull and start coughing lol? It's like all of them swallowed the vapor or took a direct lung hit. I don't understand it. I told them to just take a puff the same way you smoke.

I know when I first started vaping, I never coughed like that. It's a 50/50 blend with low nic, it's not like it was some strong hard flavor, either. These people all smoke heavy, too. It's bizzarre.

Its kinda like eating food. You gotta chew it before you swallow it. Instead, you get these people that hold the pv like its a grenade, hold the button for 3 seconds, take a tiny hit and blow out no vapor, then follow it with a cough. Then they watch me do it and I fill the room with vapor in 2 puffs. It's comical.

Am I alone on this? Did you cough your first time? Maybe I'm just too used to it, idk.

Strange stuff, regardless.

I didn't cough the very first time I took a puff but I have at other times after. In my case, and perhaps in the case of those you let try it too, I was expecting a certain sensation in my throat & I kept pulling on the device aiming for it. I didn't get the sensation & ended up taking too big a puff as a result. I also will sometimes cough even now (and I've been vaping for years) when I have too high a mix of VG. It's an irritant for me at high levels.

But then I also don't take a puff off my device the way I smoked so if I were just trying it out & followed your suggestion to puff off it like I smoked I might have coughed too. My draw is more like someone might take a puff from a pipe or a cigar and that's not how I smoked a cigarette.

For me it was a different feeling in the back of my throat - almost like it caught. I didn't cough horribly, but there was that little 3 seconds of, "what the heck?!" coughing. I still cough occasionally, but mostly if my throat is dry or I take a hit that's a little too long. It's just different.

within my own thoughts....
First time i took a draw, i hit it like i would my cigs and i coughed only slightly. However, now i'm finding that in order to get the throat hit i enjoy, i have to do a straight lung hit. I never smoked analogs by taking a direct lung hit, so unsure why i find vaping more enjoyable by doing so.

.....it's a mystery! *insert dramatic music here*

My first e-cig (eGo-T) was so bad at producing vapor I don't think it ever made me cough.

Some juices, mostly fruit flavors, make me cough now and then especially if my throat is dry.

Last year (coming on my first vapeversary in a month), RDA's made me cough bad. A couple of months ago I tried a Nautilus with 0.5 ohm coil and was surprised at the cloud that came out and I barely coughed. I believe it's due part to getting used to e-juice and part lung/throat regeneration.
