So. Started with the mentions then moved to mint (love Smokeless Image's Mint) then tried V4L's Peacemaker Peppermint. Hooked. Decided to try a few others. Bought V4L's regular peppermint and V2's Peppermint.
My take:
V4L Regular Peppermint: this one is described as a candy cane flavor. To me it is slightly candy cane flavor. There's an after flavor that, for lack of better description, tastes burnt. I'm using the liquid in brand new cartomizers on a Lea KROSS. I had even ordered some prefilleds and used them on my Volt and my Lea. Tasted burnt to me, along with the peppermint. I have discovered that If I hold the vapor in for 5 or more seconds I don't get the burnt flavor. Don't get any vapor on exhale, either. Letting the juice sit for awhile. Will try again in a few weeks. However, it has a warm vapor and produces a lot of it.
V2: one word: yuck. I ordered a 10ml in full strength. Initial taste was of medicine - Vicks cough syrup - with a sweet taste after. Few more hits brought out the mildly disturbing flavor of toothpaste. Think Ultrabrite, not Crest. I read some reviews and it seems that V2 experienced some major growing pains and quality control suffered in the Fall and late months of '11. About the same time they were running out of everything. Supposedly they have corrected the QC problems. Of course, letting items out that were manufactured during the QC problems is not going to help anything. (For the record, I had tried a pre-filled peppermint back in October and it was a great taste. I wasnt into peppermint then so...
V4L Peacemaker: I saved the best for last. From first hit on newly filled carto on freshly charged battery to almost bone dry on battery that dies after the hit the flavor is great. A strong peppermint flavor. Kind of a mix of he strength of an Altoid and the sweetness of a Life Saver Peppermint. Great vapor: warm, voluminous. Can fill my 4 door Jeep with "smoke" while waiting to pick up daughter from school. I suck this stuff down like, well, like candy.
I was hoping to find a peppermint that I could supplement my Peacemaker with. Guess ill stick with the Peacemaker. I know there are other makers out there. Just not fond of having to order from yet another online site when I'm happy with what I have. The three sites I'm regularly ordering from are enough.
(I didn't mention throat hit because that's not a big deal for me. The way I vape - and smoked - is inhale into my mouth, swallow, then exhale. So the vapor doesn't "hit" my throat per se
