Peppery taste in my juice?

So I just started getting into more advanced vaping and I think I have a pretty good understanding of how the voltage, wattage, and resistance works.

I'm using an EVOD clearomizer along with my new iTaste MVP v2. Using a fresh clearomizer (wanted to try the Vanilla Cupcake flavor) and a fresh new wick, it seems as if I'm getting a strange, peppery flavor out of it. It doesn't taste burnt, because I know what burnt tastes like. I like using lower voltages, but I'm still sorta unsure as to how high I prefer the power.

It's telling me my resistance is 2.5 ohms, (as of my latest reading) and I'm using it at about 3.8 V. My power level is at about 8-8.5, but I tried it with 6 and I tried it with 10 and I'm still getting that weird peppery taste.

Did I get a bad batch of vanilla cupcake juice? The nicotine is 24mg, and I've also had 24mg with the mocha/menthol added flavor as well. My strawberry cream at 16mg nic doesn't do this. My toasted marshmallow at 16 doesn't do this either.

It also seems like sometimes I'm getting inconsistent resistance readings from the iTaste. The wicks I was given by the guy at my smoke shop are 2.5 ohm and I'm getting a reading of 2.0 out of my older purple EVOD clearomizer with a relatively new wick that I put in 3 days ago. The new EVOD I filled with Vanilla Cupcake sometimes shows 2.5 or 2.3. I'm not sure what's right, but it seems to change depending on how long I've been vaping with it and whether or not I turn on and off the iTaste.

Any insight would be appreciated :)

Also, a little unrelated, but when the CE4 clearomizer runs low, does it tend to leak? I really like the EVOD, so I bought one to replace it but I wanted to vape out my remaining juice first and I got a whole mouthful of juice twice...

It may be nothing, but 2.5ohms at 3.8v is not very powerful. However, 8.0-8.5 watts will burn an evod within 20 puffs (mine, anyway) and then it won't recover.

Turning it up or down after the event will not help. Can you take the evod apart and look at the coil, that'll tell you whether I have a theory, or I am a troll. :)

The nicotine does have a slightly peppery character to it. I vape at 12mg/mL so I don't usually notice it if the flavoring is strong enough.

Something I learned from a supplier: if vanilla flavoring gets very cold/freezes, it can get a peppery taste due to a natural component of the flavoring. That could be what happened to you since you only taste it in the vanilla. He had this happen with several orders that shipped in late Feb. and early Mar. during a cold snap. He actually sent samples to a lab to be tested and now freeze tests his e-juices before releasing new flavors. I'd name the store here, but not sure if it's allowable under the forum rules?

What am I supposed to look for? it's so hard to see inside the coil lol. Just took out the wick and I'm not really seeing anything. My vision also really sucks though, and my glasses aren't strong enough for such a tiny object. I will replace the entire coil and see what happens, since there's no way for me to get the fill back in.

I'm not sure, but I get my juice mixed at a local shop. I don't have the resources and don't want to invest in start up fees for the DIY juice. I've already got enough attys, batteries, parts, and bottles of juice laying around, it's just another mess XD Plus, if my mother snoops around my house like she always does at least I can lie to her and say that the juices are little bottles of massage oil if she asks. XD
