I actually wanted to make a post about this soon....

In short, the reason for this is because of the flavoring. A lot of "flavoring" from China, and also some "flavoring" from the USA is not actually flavoring. They are actually fragrance, which is why you get that perfume / soapy kind of taste. They're made with a lot of chemicals and other artificial ingredients. That being said, many suppliers wrongly sell it as Flavoring, or "Artificial Flavoring".

Using fragrance is a lot cheaper and it's a lot more concentrated, but is not considered safe for human consumption. It's meant for, well, fragrance!

Hope that helps!

I'm very sensitive to that "perfumey" taste that a lot of juices have. I have noticed with some that steeping does help....but I recently found my go-to vendor for all fruity flavors after trying so many others. Rawr Vapor makes some of most amazing fruit flavors I've ever tried....I haven't vaped anything else in a month now. Their "Signature" juices are incredible, they have come up with some really amazing fruity combinations. Their most popular juices are the "truth Serums" (They have unique names for a lot of their juices). They have a permanent coupon code for 5%, which is VapeTV. I highly recommend them to everyone all of the time....a few people went ahead and ordered and came back to let me know how much they loved the flavors.

Check out some of the flavor descriptions over there, if they sound like something you would like I would strongly recommend them. Here are a few of my personal favorites: Truth Serum, Serenity, Peach Serum, Beachin', Razmataz, Green Peach Tea, Antidote

I know exactly what your talking about - alot that have a high concentrated alchol base smell and taste terrible to me. Have you tried different flavoring companys? or are you talking about vendor juices? I doubt most vendors will tell you the flavoring company - but if your making your own - try capellas, and alot of loranns fruits are really good too.

Sometimes flavors may contain Ethyl Alcohol. They need to air out, try removing the cap & dropper and letting it air for a few hours up to a few days. You can place a napkin or paper towel over the top so that dust doesn't get in.

hth! ;)

Don't know where you're getting your information from  but there is a big difference between food flavorings and fragrances. To make the statement that alot of suppliers use fragrance instead of flavorings would be opening a big can of worms for yourself.

Allowing the juice to breathe will make a world of difference with that. Most people just leave their bottles uncapped for a day or so, but I like to just squeeze out the old air in the bottle and replace with my ambient air. A few squeezes on the bottle every few days for the first week or two of steeping does the trick for me.

Getting the information from my flavor chemist. No big can of worms. Someone asked why a lot have a perfume taste, and that's a common reason. In the flavoring industry, it's very common to come across this, mostly the super cheap - super concentrated ones (and by super, I don't mean the ones that require 20-30%).

Just doing a quick search on google, or alibaba for "flavoring fragrance" and you'll see that most of the flavoring manufacturers actually produce both flavoring, and fragrance products.

I don't mean anything bad by this, or am I saying who does and doesn't! I'm just passing along information from my flavor chemist, when asked why many flavorings have that distinctive soapy taste.

Today, tired of the perfume taste, I filled a brand new carto with a mint flavor that I've been vaping for a few days, punched a hole in it, and stuck it in a tank. And even that flavor, which before now, was a good flavor with no odd tastes, starts to taste weird and perfumey. I'm using Boge standard 2.8 ohm cartos and a lil' mama' tank. Any reason this would be happening? I punched a second hole in the carto and it made it a little better.
