Perhaps we should contact local media

A post on ECF with a local news story about e-cigs got me thinking. They only ever cover the cigarette looking devices. Typically the ones that they find at gas stations, blu, or other expensive 808 models online. Why don't we try and create a 2 to 3 page informational article about vaping culture, the better devices, etc. and try and pitch to the local TV stations, newspapers, and radio stations. I think with the recent smoking ban, this would be a good opportunity to strike while the Iron is hot. Does anyone have spare time to create an initial draft? E-cigs are getting out in stories, but we need to start controlling what information the media has if we want to get the general public on our side.

Trep, I like the way you think buddy. Let me ponder this for a bit. I'll commit any time I can.

And I've thought about this before but haven't acted on it, which is, I may be able to get some media contacts. I do work at one of the largest ad agencies in Indy, and with many media buyers who generally get favors from local networks (our ads pay their bills.)

The trick will be having the right content.

I like the idea, but I'd suck at such a thing.

If we get into concrete construction techniques or the merits of various steel alloys or even different machining methods, I can make some pretty persuasive documents...

I'm a reporter by trade. I'm new here, but DM me w/ more details and I will help however I can. Also, I write for technology / and science pubs - both on and offline. Vaping can fit well in the science side of things, given the health connection.

My thought on this subject is that if we are going to the media, we need an issue to take to them. Like...

"The IVAQS project showed that vapor is not harmful to bystanders, after the committee and SFI preached that it was."

Or something like that....
