Hi HK!

Just thought I'd throw in my 2 cents. There are several common symptoms from smoking withdrawal and gratefully with e-cigs we don't have to experience those associated with rapid nicotine withdrawal (e.g. intestinal disorders, headaches, sweats). But, with e-cigs the cilia in the lungs actually stops being paralyzed (that's one of fine side effects of analogs). It takes a little while for them to liven up, but then they start their work of cleaning debris away.

It is extremely common to experience several severe cold-like symptoms including increasing cough as they do their work.

These symptoms can last 8-12 weeks on average.

Without being too graphic, you may experience a point where you know that coughing is now over. I hit a point about 10 weeks in and my lungs got rid of a lot of gunk in about a 3 or 4 day period. I panicked a little during at that point LOL -- but afterwards my lung capacity felt like it tripled and that was the end of the cough.

Seeing a doctor can't hurt... but wait until you start lowering the nicotine levels (if you choose to) and starting getting the nic-zits LOL... to be a teenager again :) (those go away too).

I wish you every good thing. There's a great post somewhere here in ECF with withdrawal symptoms. It's a great read to prepare for what may arise.

Agree on everything said here. When I quit last year it was before I learned of vaping. I was taking Chantix, it worked and killed my urge to smoke, but it is very nasty stuff. I would approach it with extreme caution. Did you know within a year, it became the number one smoking cessation product? And then less than a year later their sales fell by more than half. If your doc recommends it, have them explain all the negative side effects. And have your friends/family watch you. Seriously. Wicked stuff. I just felt funny and after reading up on it, immediately threw away what I had on-hand.

Luckily for me I discovered vaping at that point.

But anyway back to my point, while I was not smoking, on the Chantix, and not vaping, I was coughing like crazy. All my ex-smoking friends said they had experienced the same thing. As said above when you quit smoking your body starts repelling all the nasty's. I coughed a lot more after I had quit than before. Your body coughing out all that stuff is a good thing. I had never vaped at that time.

My wife just commented that my complexion was starting to look a bit "sophmoric" and we both wondered if that was because of my new diet or the nicotine. It may be a product of the two.

Thanks for the comments, there's some good common sense in there. I'm still headed to the doc but, I feel a little better about my current place in the "race."

I'm on a standard 510 eGo with regular carts (not 'omizers, the included ones) and no mods. It's not a sore throat or lungs, it's just same small hack I've had for a s long as I can remember. Maybe the Nic/ratio is too much, I don't know. I'd rather not spend a hundred bucks trying to find the right ratio. Particularly since my original plan was to vape and taper until I could get off of the nicotine. If I know me, having 13 different 10-30ml bottles of Nicotine hanging around the house is just going to encourage me to keep vaping instead of following the path I originally intended.

In My opinion nicotine is never the one that makes you cough. It is what is in the smoke/vapor(Other than Nicotine) that irritate Lungs.Trying out with Pharma glycerine with 10% added water can give some Idea.

Sounds like you may have a case of the "quit zits"

Here is the link to the thread that discusses symptoms of quitting analogs

I would also add, if it has not been said (and I'm terrible about reading the OP and having something to say that cannot wait while I shuffle through replies) that the cough could be residual from quitting smoking. Like you've gotten used to smoke and your insides are changing and getting used to you not smoking. May just be some clearing out and regenerating going on in there.
