Just wondering if this forum can help reach it to its goal of 5000 votes, will it actually be any good ? i mean will the sg govt will actually budge and consider legalizing vaping ?

Pretty difficult to hit 5000 dude. Considering the Shisha one barely got more than 1000 and it was so much more entrenched into our culture. Seeing as ecigs have never been legal here per se there's pretty low exposure for most of the population so you'll be lucky if you even cross the 1000 mark...

I think its worth a try, ecigs are different from shisha in terms of accessibility/portability. i mean i can keep several mods at home, but i'll be siao to keep several shisha pipes at home right? thinking of the amount of charcoal i have to keep and the space it takes up i'd rather go without. i think there are a lot more vapers out there than we think, we just need to come together.

After all, never try never know. If we tried our best and the govt still don't wanna budge (which is likely) at least we can say we tried.

Ah, well I've supported it. If there was so many people in it already we might stand a chance. In hitting 5000 there is. Highly unlikely for HiSham to do anything but no sense in not doing anything about it... Especially when the petition seems to have been written by a 10 year old.

There are lesser smoker than non smoker in Singapore, and there are lesser vaper than smoker in Singapore. Unless we have more than half of Singapore making noise, I don't think the government would give a damn.

You think too highly of me, trippy. My English is mediocre at best.

I personally feel online petitions will never change this gov's stance on ecigs, regardless of their presentation or the number of signatures acquired. Still, I applaud the petitioner's effort as it does create some form of awareness.
That said, I think it'd be more effective to share balanced and credible articles, studies etc. on the effects of vaping on social media, online platforms etc. to gradually correct public misperception created by misinformation dished out by the local authorities and mainstream media.

If you go read HSA's statement as quoted in the press (available online) after the incident in Feb, it's quite clear the pressures they're caving in to. It's not solely a local decision, but part of a larger alignment; this is the real GoT (apologies, am on a GoT binge right now). If you look in the press report, it's quite clear who they're looking out for and why they're doing this; it's not hard to read between the lines.
