Pfizer give $35 Million to Docs & Researchers

Pfizer, the world’s largest drug maker, said Wednesday that it paid about $20 million to 4,500 doctors and other medical professionals for consulting and speaking on its behalf in the last six months of 2009, its first public accounting of payments to the people who decide which drugs to recommend.

Pfizer also paid $15.3 million to 250 academic medical centers and other research groups for clinical trials in the same period.

What's really interesting, is that farther down in the article, many docs don't believe these numbers are accurate. Even they don't trust the drug companies.

Business is business. I see ads where they offer to help if you can't afford your medicine too. But at least they're not forcing us to buy their stuff like Obama is.

No, they just pay the people we trust to advise us that we need their products. Even more concerning, they pay the people that help to drive policy.
