As an FYI the Propylene glycol they have at Tractor Supply doesn't work very well, even though it's U.S.P. It's very oily and WILL NOT mix with water, VG or flavorings; anything added (except alcohol) will just bead up and separate no matter how much shaking and yelling you do. Anyone know the difference between U.S.P. grade and food grade? Where do you guys go to buy PG that will play well with others?

I too use Tractor supply PG. I find its 100% purity to be excellent. I can use it for all my DIY and have no issues. After the first gallon, I bought another.

Yeah, I don't know what's going on with mine. Here's an image; the PG is sitting on top, the green band on the bottom is VG with a bit of green food coloring. If I shake it it turns green for about five minutes before settling back into the distinctive PG/VG layers. Like oil and water!

Couldn't find a Tractor Supply in my area but it sounds like you may have gotten a bad batch - I mix a fair amount of DYI and I ordered a 16 oz bottle of PG from essentialwholesale.com and it was $12.24 including shipping - not as good a deal as the gallon from TS but it's lasted 6 mos and it's food grade and mixes up just fine (no separation after shaking)

I have three TSC's that I shop at, none of them carry PG. I asked at the one I visit most, and they said they never heard of it. Oh well, I have enough of it by watching for sales from the ECF vendors. At least I know what I have is sold to vape.

It's in the horse supply session next to other medicines in a one gallon jug -- you can't miss it, but the folks who work there might not know it right off the top of their heads.

Who would have thunk that this is NOT a universal problem? I agree with those who said mislabeled or bad batch but when I see "U.S.P." on a label I don't expect for it to be bad OR mislabeled. Anywho, I'm glad everyone else is doing OK with their Tractor Supply PG. I'm going to just return mine, tell them it's not water soluble as PG is supposed to be and demand my $20.00 back! Oh, and find another place to buy it. I live in New England and we have lots and lots of agricultural stores. Thanks everyone for getting back to me!

No offense, OP, but I'm glad this isn't a universal issue. I had already bought my PG from a local farm store even though I haven't started diy yet. Trying to space out the expenses. Then I read your post and kinda freaked. I hope your situation gets resolved quickly

Sorry I freaked you out. I never in a million years would have suspected that a label with "U.S.P." on it was bad or mislabeled. I just figured their stuff (which says "not for human consumption", legal mumbo jumbo I'm sure) was off somehow. I'm actually very glad for everyone here on ECF that I was wrong about the universality of this problem. I'd be a selfish .... if I wasn't (though I admit I am jealous of you guys who have good PG and can get to mixing!)
