Both PG and VG are basically stabilizers used in many applications from food (as a humectant, stabilizer, and/or sweetener) to machinery (as a lubricant or antifreeze). Both have very low/no toxicity and are considered safe for consumption provided the source is of pharmaceutical or "USP" grade. Since both are considered humectants, their nature is to attract and trap moisture. The drying sensation you are experiencing could be a sensitivity to this as the substances may be dehydrating the soft tissues around and inside the mouth or nose. You could also have a similar reaction from detoxing from cigs if you recently quit smoking. Drink plenty of water. More than you normally would. This is important. Some people have a particular sensitivity to PG and cannot tolerate symptoms of throat, lung and sinus irritation. If you think this is the case, then you may not want to have any PG in your vaping. The ratio of PG/VG in vendors' juices has more to do with throat hit and flavor transmission. Pure VG is very viscous, tends to lack th and is a poor carrier of flavor, whereas PG is less viscous, has strong th and carries flavor well. Nicotine also adds inherent th. Many vapers have found that a mix of both PG and VG gives the vaping experience a more desirable balance between viscosity, th and flavor transmission. Some people prefer 100% VG. Most prefer a ratio between 50PG/50VG and 80PG/20VG. I haven't seen anyone capable of sustaining 100% PG.

So the short answer is, no. It's not just you. Remember to hydrate yourself. Pay attention to what your body tells you. Buy juice from reputable (USA) sources. And search the health threads for more specific info. Good luck.

Is it unusual to have a reaction to VG? When I first started I used V2cigs, which as far as I know is 100% PG. I had no problems whatsoever when I strictly vaped V2 pre-filled cartos. Now I have moved on to CE3s and e-liquids, which most are not available in 100% PG so I have to go with mixes of 80/20, 70/30, or even 60/40 with Copper Creek. My facial skin is so oily now it's not even funny. I have more zits on my face at 41 than I did during my teens. Some of the juices I vape I can get in 100% PG and I might start doing that, but not all of the vendors I order from offer 100% PG. I'd rather have zits than lung cancer though. At the same time it seems a LOT of vendors refuse to recognize that people's bodies can be equally as intolerant of VG as they are of PG, and therefore don't offer higher PG ratios. I don't know how many vendors say right on their website not to ask for a ratio that is not an already listed option!! Not a very savvy business decision in my eyes.

what base or mix of base do you like and why. i ask because i have some straight vg juice and some 70/30 pg/vg juice and i really don't like the mix so much. it seems to dry out my lips and make me kind of feel weird. is it just me or is there something to this, thanks.

Right now the Juice I bough doesn't say what VG/PG ratio it is but I'm liking the new one it gives more vapor the the Phantom natural tobacco had. :)
