So, I got this rash about a week ago. It is only on one area etc... went to the doctor. She explained I am allergic to something...blah, blah , blah. Anyway, trying to determine what I am allergic to. Obviously PG is a possibility. I don't want to quit vaping but, I have no juices that are VG only right now. The lowest I have is 45 PG/55 VG.

So, anyway, here are my questions for those of you who are sensitive/ allergic to PG. I had been vaping for 2 and a half months when this popped up. Is this normal? Do I have to get rid of PG completely or is just cutting down ok? I ask because I have lots of juice that is PG based. I can cut down the amount of PG but, hate to eliminate it totally and waste all this juice. Thoughts???

Thanks for the reply. Am thinking the best course of action may be to try completely PG free juice first and see if the stupid rash goes away. Like I said I am not even 100% sure that PG is the problem I just thought it strangs that I would be allergic after 2 months of using it. I guess I was hoping someone could tell me if it is normal to have an allergic reaction after 2 months or if I am being silly and its not the juice?

That is a bit odd, but it might have taken that long for the sensitivity to surface. I am not a doctor, only a time lord so I can't tell you anything medical. I will say though that as your body is recovering from smoking and it gets in line with doing what it's been trying to do for years some things might show up more easily then they did before. Also it just might be the new levels of PG that are getting your body to react as well. Lots of variables, but PG is within the realm of possibilities

I know of a vender HHV Heathers Heavenly Vapes, Top Quality Custom E-Liquids If you look at some of their purity line they can offer it 100% PG free. It does take them about 7 days to mix juice since it is done by hand and many of their juice require steeping to get them ro taste their best, but they have some excellent flavors and an ability to order samples.

It can't hurt to try it out, but i would also ask that doctor of you about the time difference to. I hope this helps though.

Well at first it wasn't too bad but, now it is definitely becoming more than annoying. It's also the placement of it. It is visible in any shirt I wear.

Yeah that is my issue. I dont want to go back to smoking for two weeks while waiting on juice. Everything takes forever to get to me bc of where I live. Thanks for the link to the vendor. Good place to start.

The doctor of-course said "well, quit the e cig and see what happens" However, If I quit the ecig I will smoke. Thats why I am wondering if vaping lower PG is an ok alternative until I can get some 100% VG to try out. Right now what I have done is use distilled water and some 20 PG/ 80 VG base I had... mixed that with my normal juice to come up with a blend lower in PG. Guess I will just have to see what happens.

Hi!

I'd suggest trying all VG juices for a bit and see what happens. I'm totally PG intolerant and it took a month or so before it hit me. Seems like it took awhile to "build up" in my system too. ;) Now, I vape all-VG juices and have no problems. Good luck!

Good idea about putting it on my skin. Thanks.

That is whats annoying about the whole thing. Who knows what all I have changed recently. Yep a new make-up, yep started vaping different flavors, No new meds (except benadryl for the rash..lol), went outside and used tanning lotion... I mean who knows. This current concoction of juice is not so great but, does have lower PG. Ordered some max VG from MtBaker. Its cheap enough to give it a try and see if that helps.

I just hate the thought of going back to cigs to see if it clears up. I am not in the clear from cigs as is and if I start smoking constantly again then I dont know if I am up to the challenge of "switching" back.... However, I have tried everything else to get rid of it....

My kids pediatrician has told me (for my kids) it is possible for allergic reactions to show up well after the fact you begin to use something. It can be a very small response by you body that takes time to get the histamine up to a point symptoms begin to occur. Certain doses of something, in this case PG, may not even cause the symptoms to appear. Or it may even be something else you changed days, or even months ago.

The good news there are several juice vendors who sell VG only juices. Johnson's Creek comes to mind but I know there are others.

You haven't been tanning in a bed have you?
You might be alleric to a flavoring if you just changed juices, switch back to the one you were vaping before exclusively.
Don't cut out the new makeup, the juice and the tanning lotion all at the same time though. Do it one by one so you can find out what is causing it.

Oh, and if you get verified here you can swap out your juices with other members and sell them if you find the pg is causing the irritation.

No tanning beds and I dont put the makeup way down on my chest (lol).... usually just my face which knock on wood is not all rashy... I am lucky in that I normally dont deal with allergies. Thats why when I got this rash ten days ago I was just kind-of like 'meh' but then it got uglier and higher up so, I figured I had better deal with it.

Also, I did go kind-of flavor crazy but, I vape 2-3 flavors a day. One I have had since the beginning, another I have been using for atleast a month and then just various fun ones. I went back to just the first two and like I said lowered the PG in them....

Just when I thought I was going to break even and had it all figured out..... not so much. :glare:
