So I thought I understood, maybe I don't...

Most things I have read and been told equate PG to flavor and throat hit and equate VG to vapor, smoothness and even sweetness. Then I ran across other sites saying the opposite.

Is this one of those subjective, unquantifiable things? Or is one side right or wrong?

:confused::confused::confused:

PG does promote throat hit as well as transports flavor more readily than VG does, and is thinner
VG does promote more sweetness to an extent and produces more vapor as well as mellows out throat hit not being so much an artificial chemical than PG is, and is thicker than PG.

PG can be described as more sharp in taste, thus the higher TH
VG can be described as more mellow in taste due it takes more flavoring to and such to attain as high a TH as PG has.

I've come across conflicting reports too. But the majority have stated the same thing.

PG = more TH, more flavor, less vapor
VG = less TH, less flavor, more vapor

And from my own experience, these attributes hold true. My very first attempt at DIY was 100% PG including the flavor and it was too harsh and had way too much flavor. It was unvapeable. Since then, with the addition of VG and better flavor management, I have become slightly more adept at DIYing. :p

I've just started using juice instead of pre-filled, and I'm amazed at how easy it is. But so far, only tried Jet's Mojito Mint (which I love) and have no idea what PG/VG ratio they used. So, Im getting ready to order from MtBaker, and I'm thinking maybe a good idea would be to use a 50/50 proportion first and learn from that point what I like, no?

I personally like a 50/50 mix myself. This way you get the best of both and adjust from there if need be. I have read that some people are allergic to PG, have not reading anything about allergic reactions to VG though. One question I have, regarding stealth vaping? I'd like to add a short 808 type battery and short carto to my vaping arsenal. Was wondering how much vapor 100 PG would produce at standard or low voltage? There are times and places where I'd like to vape without anyone asking questions or really noticing.

Flavoring usually about 5- 15%- could be higher or lower depending on the flavor used.
PG enhances flavor, TH and lung hit- water like - many of us believe PG to be a throat irritant.
VG= vapor and can mute flavor- thick
Nicotine- TH, lung hit and our need for nicotine. The MOST important ingredient in regards to TH and lung hit.
Standards in the industry are 80/ 20 or 70/ 30 PG/ VG.
Some may have a sensitivity to either PG or VG and thus some use 100% VG thinned with PGA or distilled water so it can wick properly. PGA and distilled water are also throat irritants. It seems more vapers lately are using a 50/ 50 mix and it tends to be smoother/ less harsh. VG heavy juices will clog up cartos and heads quicker than a high PG juice.
