I am planning to start making my own e-juice and was wondering if there are any problems with using 80%pg and 20% vg. I like a strong TH and flavor and am not very concerned about vapor production.I am considering using a 60mg nicotine with VG base and adding PG at a 4 to 1 ratio. this should give me 12mg/ml base mix that I can add flavorings to.I plan to use TFA. FA and spearmint oil to make small amount of different flavors from this base mix.I have experience working with hazardous chemicals and have the proper safety equipment and training to handle them. but was wondering what if any problem I can expect running a 80/20 pg/vg mix. I am planning on buying nicotine and flavorings from RTS vapes.any opinions or comment on this supplier?

Welcome to DIY :)

One thing I would be careful of is the use of "oils" as a flavoring base. It's recommended to use water-soluble flavorings (most of TFAs are, I believe) I've not ordered from RTS, but I see that many people do. If you're going to hit a lot of TFA flavors, come visit http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/diy-e-liquid/336110-flavor-apprentice-flavoring-thread.html

There's an incredible amount of knowledge (and recipes) there. Check out blogs by Bill's Magic Vapor, Hoosier, and Dannyv45. All these guys have some great info for people getting into DIY. I started DIYing last June/July, but I really didn't come into outstanding results until I started reading through all the blogs and threads.

Also, consider a juice calculator - a popular one is eJuice Me Up - Best eJuice Calculator

80p/20v juice shouldn't pose any problems (as long as you don't have PG sensitivities.) I tend toward higher VG myself, but that's just me.

Good luck, and have fun!

the flavors im looking at are PG based except for spearmint oil and I have read that with oils adding a little alcohol will help them mix better. I plan to use everclear and then let the juice breath for 2 days to gas off the excess alcohol. I am trying to stick to natural flavors because I do not know whats in artificial flavorings or if they are safe for vaping.and we may not know for 10 or 20 years.I am currently vaping a 65% pg commercial juice and like the increased flavor and TH. low vapor production make it easier to sneak a hit in places that may not approve.using a VG nicotine with the proper concentration of nicotine would provide the VG for the mix without adding extra VG.

I'm new to DIY also, so I don't know much....but just a little something to think about. Most recipe I've tried with TFA flavors range between 10-25% and FA flavors are really strong....like 2-3% seem to be what I've seen for single flavors. A multiple flavored FA recipe may not even use 10%....just something to think about....

I love RTS nic btw. It has been my favorite so far. Some will argue, but I find the nic has the most effect on the throat hit for me. I have experimented with several different percentages and this is just my opinion. I know lots that use 80/20 and some that use 100% pg (although you won't get much vapor). Try different ones for yourself to find out what you really prefer. That is the 2nd best benefit of DIY. Good luck to you and happy mixing.

PGA is a thinning agent used to thin thick VG mixes. If your doing 80PG/20VG you don't need any thinning agents like PGA or DW. You would also want to get your NIC in PG not VG for concentrations that you speak of. If your adding PGA as a throat hit enhancer then your better off increasing your NIC strength to increase TH and for go the PGA.
