That's all about personal preference. Higher VG will give you lower throat hit but more vapor, higher PG will give more throat hit and smaller clouds. Some people have sensitivities or allergies to PG, so they opt for very high or 100% VG. I would suggest starting with a 50/50 blend, then adjust from there if you aren't satisfied with it.

Oh dear. I use 70% pg. Too much vg interferes with my breathing and leaves a slick feeling in my mouth. Others go with 100% vg. You're kind of on your own, here. You might try one extreme or the other. If you don't get the throat hit you want, next time go with higher pg. If you feel a need for bigger clouds, go heavy on the vg next time. This kind of implies you shouldn't make a really massive order till you form your own opinion.

If you can find a local vendor that specifies the ratios, you could use them to help define your tastes. If they won't tell you the ratio they use, or unwilling to custom blend, experiment online with relatively small quantities.

the PG/VG ratio is more of a taste thing along with a thickness ( viscosity) function
The higher the VG ( lower the PG) the viscosity increases along with the density of the vapor and there is a lessening of the throat hit ( tingle/burn)
Higher PG has a tendancy to increase flavor, reduce viscosity and vapor density.
Since taste is involved, it can be very subjective. Some people prefer 80% PG, and others (like myself) prefer 100% VG ( well near 100%)
a good start point I suppose would be 20/80 ( 20PG/80VG) allows for flavor, has enuf viscosity to reduce gurgling.leaking in Evod type tanks and gives good vapor production

might as well throw in this on nicotine numbers:
Nicotine comes in different strengths too, it comes as milligrams per milliliter (mg/ml) some normal number you will see are
6,12,18,24,30,36

these numbers can be correlated to how much you smoke(d) a day
just a few ciggies a day go with 6 nic
a pack a day 12-18nic
2 packs a day 24-30nic
more than 2 pad 36nic

the correlation is just a rough rule of thumb due to the amount of nicotine you were used to while smoking
I was at 2 PAD and 30 nic is about the max I can handle without getting NicSic...
